General information and overview

The 2010 Ford Fiesta in India is a rugged compact sedan built for our chaotic roads, seating five with a 1.6L Duratec petrol (101 PS, 146 Nm) or 1.4L Duratorq diesel, both paired to smooth 5-speed manuals. I love its 168 mm clearance tackling speed breakers, 4.9m turning circle for urban agility, and suspension that balances comfort with sharp handling—front McPherson struts and rear twist beam isolate bumps brilliantly. Safety includes ABS+EBD in top trims, disc front brakes, and dual airbags in premiums. Interiors impress with adjustable seats, MP3/Bluetooth audio, reading lamps, and metallic accents in Limited/Titanium editions, though boot space at 284L suits families modestly. Production ended in 2015, but low-usage examples hold up well at 60-80k km, offering solid build over flimsy rivals. Key checks: coolant system, electrics, and AC. At Rs. 1-2.8 lakhs used, it's my pick for dynamic driving without fuss, perfect for city-highway duties if you source parts proactively.

The 2010 Ford Fiesta in India, including Classic and Titanium trims, is a rugged compact sedan built for local roads with 168 mm clearance, 4.9m turning circle, and suspension blending stiffness for handling with comfort over bumps via McPherson struts and twist beam. I appreciate its 1.6L Duratec petrol (101 PS, 146 Nm) for peppy performance or efficient TDCI diesel, paired with disc-drum brakes and optional ABS-EBD for safety. Cabin seats five comfortably with premium interiors in top variants—Ebony/Jasper upholstery, MP3 Bluetooth audio, height-adjust driver seat, fog lamps, alloys, and speed-sensing doors. Production ran to 2015, with strong long-term ownership like 69,000 km examples holding up well. Key aspects include solid build, low cabin noise, good legroom, and versatile boot, though coolant vigilance and parts hunting are musts post-Ford exit. At used prices of 1-2.8 lakhs, it excels in drivability over Etios or Dzire, perfect for enthusiasts seeking fun without fuss.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

I find the 2010 Ford Fiesta a compelling used buy in India for those craving European driving dynamics in a compact sedan. Its 1.6L Duratec petrol engine pumps out 101 PS and 146 Nm, hitting 0-100 kmph in just 11.43 seconds, making overtakes on highways effortless while the independent McPherson strut front and semi-independent twist beam rear suspension deliver a plush ride that soaks up Indian potholes without drama. With 168 mm ground clearance and a tight 4.9-meter turning radius, it dances through city traffic and U-turns better than rivals like the Swift Dzire or Etios. Braking is confident thanks to front discs, rear drums, and available ABS with EBD, ensuring stability in panic stops. The cabin feels premium with features like height-adjustable driver seat, MP3 player, Bluetooth in Titanium trims, and body-colored mirrors, though space is adequate for four. After 15 years, reliability shines in low-mileage examples under 70,000 km, but I always check for coolant leaks and service history since Ford's exit raises parts costs. At current used prices around 1-2.8 lakhs, it offers unbeatable fun-to-price ratio for enthusiasts tired of bland commuters, helping you stand out without breaking the bank on running costs if maintained well.

I find the 2010 Ford Fiesta a compelling used buy in India for those craving European driving dynamics in a compact sedan. Its 1.6L Duratec petrol engine pumps out 101 PS and 146 Nm, delivering sharp throttle response and composed handling thanks to independent McPherson struts upfront and a semi-independent twist beam at the rear, making it a joy on twisty Indian roads with 168 mm ground clearance and a tight 4.9-meter turning radius that conquers urban chaos effortlessly. Braking is confident with front ventilated discs, rear drums, and optional ABS with EBD to prevent skids. The suspension strikes a perfect balance, soaking up potholes without feeling floaty, while the cabin offers decent space for five, premium touches in higher trims like Titanium with body-colored ORVMs, alloys, Bluetooth audio, and speed-sensing locks. Ride quality remains pliant even after years, as owners report low cabin noise and solid build up to 69,000 km. However, parts availability post-Ford's 2021 India exit demands foresight—stock up on filters and coolants, as leaks can arise. At used prices under 3 lakhs, it's a value-packed handler outperforming rivals like Swift Dzire or Etios in fun factor, ideal if you prioritize engagement over outright reliability in a budget runner.

Latest Updates

Recent news and announcements

Ford has officially stopped producing the Ford Fiesta, marking the end of a 47-year production run. The final Ford Fiesta rolled off the production line on July 7, 2023. This decision is part of Fords plan to rapidly electrify its model range. I believe this move will significantly impact the compact car market, especially for fans of the Fiesta.
July 8, 2023
Sales of the Ford Fiesta have been declining in recent years, exacerbated by supply shortages and increased competition from SUVs like the Ford Puma. In 2021, the Fiesta failed to make the British list of top ten best-sellers for the first time since its launch. This decline reflects a broader market shift towards larger vehicles.
December 3, 2022
Due to semiconductor shortages and other global challenges, Ford had to interrupt Fiesta production several times. This included a pause in orders earlier in 2022, which further impacted sales. The production interruptions were a significant factor in the decision to discontinue the model.
June 15, 2022
In late 2012, Ford introduced a facelifted version of the Fiesta for the European market, which went on sale in 2013. This update included Fords latest corporate front end design and various engine options. The facelift aimed to keep the Fiesta competitive in the market.
September 30, 2012
By July 2011, Ford had sold over 15 million Fiestas worldwide since its launch in 1976. The Fiesta was one of the best-selling Ford models, positioned below the Escort and later the Focus. Its sales performance was a testament to its popularity.

Pricing details and changes

In India, the 2010 Ford Fiesta's ex-showroom price originally ranged from about Rs. 5.5 lakhs for base EXi petrol to Rs. 8.5 lakhs for top ZXI or Titanium diesel variants, reflecting its premium positioning with features like alloys and Bluetooth in higher trims. On-road prices then added 10-15% for registration, insurance, and taxes, pushing totals to Rs. 6-9.5 lakhs depending on city—higher in metros like Delhi or Mumbai due to road tax. Today, as a discontinued used model post-2015 production halt, I see well-maintained 2010 examples listed at Rs. 1-2.8 lakhs on platforms, with 2010 petrol classics around 1.5-2 lakhs and diesels slightly higher at 2-2.5 lakhs for low-mileage units under 80,000 km. This affordability stems from Ford's market exit, flooding supply, but savvy buyers negotiate factoring service history. I recommend budgeting extra Rs. 20,000-50,000 annually for maintenance since official service networks are scarce—independent garages charge Rs. 5,000-8,000 per service, cheaper than new but pricier than Maruti. At this price, it undercuts rivals like used Etios yet offers superior dynamics, making it a smart pick if you hunt rust-free examples with verified coolant systems to avoid hidden costs.

Fuel efficiency information

I get realistic 10.5 kmpl city and 14 kmpl highway from the 1.6L petrol on Indian roads, translating to Rs. 7-9/km running costs at current fuel prices—decent for its peppy performance. Diesel 1.4L fares better at 18-22 kmpl, slashing costs to Rs. 5-6/km. For budget buyers, diesel wins long-term despite part hunts; test real-world figures before committing.
December 22, 2025
I rate the 2010 Ford Fiesta's 1.6L petrol at 10.5 kmpl city and 14 kmpl highway in India, realistic for mixed use yielding 11-16 kmpl overall per owner reports. Diesel TDCI fares better at 18-22 kmpl, slashing running costs to Rs. 3-4/km versus petrol's Rs. 5-6/km on current fuel prices. For budget buyers, diesels win on totals under 10 paise/km annually at 15,000 km, but check for leaks—still economical over rivals if serviced right.
