General information and overview

The 2025 Rolls-Royce Ghost, India's most accessible Rolls model post-Cullinan, features a 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 engine with 563 bhp, 820 Nm torque, all-wheel drive, and ZF 8-speed automatic, hitting 250 kmph top speed while prioritizing serene cruising. Its 'Planar Suspension' with road-scan cameras and rear-axle steering ensures spectacular ride comfort over potholes, ideal for our roads, though mass induces body roll. The cabin excels with massage seats, heads-up display, tinted glass (curtains incoming for heat), thick carpets, Grey Stained Ash wood, and a panoramic glass dashboard for infotainment and art. At 2435 kg and 490-litre boot, it's agile for its size, with 571 PS in some trims. Priced from Rs 6.95 crore ex-showroom, it's for those craving Phantom-like opulence without excess length—refinement, power delivery, and bespoke options make it a compelling buy for status-driven decisions in India's luxury segment.

The Rolls-Royce Ghost, India's favoured Rolls entry after Cullinan, boasts a 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 with 563bhp, 820Nm, all-wheel drive, and ZF 8-speed automatic for 4.8-second 0-100kmph sprints up to 250kmph, all in serene silence. At 5.5 metres for standard (longer Extended), it offers vast rear space with massage seats, thick carpets, embroidery, and tech like heads-up display, active noise cancellation, and a panoramic glass dashboard housing infotainment and art. The 2025 Series II refresh brings smoother styling, updated lights, new wheels, Grey Stained Ash wood, and a sommelier-tuned Champagne cooler. Ride quality excels via road-previewing cameras and rear-axle steering, ideal for broken roads, though no rear sunblinds yet—tints handle heat. Kerb weight nears 2.5 tonnes, boot holds 490 litres; it's for connoisseurs valuing opulence over sportiness, with maintenance reflecting its bespoke status.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

I find the 2025 Rolls-Royce Ghost to be the pinnacle of luxury sedans in India, delivering unmatched refinement with its 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 engine producing 563 bhp and 820 Nm of torque, propelling it from 0-100 kmph in 4.8 seconds while maintaining whisper-quiet cabin serenity through active noise cancellation and a road-scanning camera suspension that glides over imperfections. In Indian conditions, its rear-wheel steering enhances maneuverability despite the 5.5m length, making urban drives effortless, though the lack of standard rear sunblinds is a minor drawback in our hot climate—Rolls-Royce promises optional curtains soon. The interior, with buttery leather, open-pore wood, and a glass-panelled dashboard doubling as a digital art gallery, pampers like no other, complemented by massage seats and a bespoke champagne cooler. While body roll persists in spirited driving, it's thrilling in a relaxed way, far from sporty rivals. For buyers seeking status, comfort, and effortless power on Indian roads, I recommend it wholeheartedly—its completeness eliminates the need for pricier Phantoms, making it my top pick for discerning owners who value indulgence over everything else.

The cabin envelops you in buttery leather, open-pore wood, and a glass-panelled dashboard that doubles as a digital art gallery, with massage seats and a ride quality so plush it absorbs India's potholes effortlessly thanks to the road-scanning camera and rear-wheel steering for surprising agility in city traffic. At over 5 metres long, it glides with effortless power and all-wheel drive, though spirited driving reveals some body roll—perfect for those who prioritize wafting over sharpness. In our hot climate, tinted glass suffices for now, with curtains promised soon. Maintenance is steep, but for the elite seeking status and supreme comfort without needing a Phantom's space, I recommend it wholeheartedly—it's a statement of arrival that justifies every paisa if chauffeur-driven luxury defines your world.

Price

Pricing details and changes

In India, the 2025 Rolls-Royce Ghost starts at Rs 6.95 crore ex-showroom for the standard variant, rising to Rs 7.95 crore for the Extended Wheelbase, with Black Badge models potentially adding more through bespoke options that can inflate costs by crores. On-road prices in major cities like Delhi or Mumbai push this to approximately Rs 8.2-9.5 crore, factoring in 28-30% GST, road tax around 12-15%, insurance nearing Rs 20-25 lakh annually due to high premiums, and green cess for luxury vehicles exceeding Rs 20 lakh. Registration and fastag add another Rs 5-10 lakh. I view this as justified for the Ghost's peerless build—handcrafted elements like starlight headliners and twill upholstery demand premium pricing, and resale holds strong among India's elite. Running costs are steep with Rs 10-12 per km in fuel alone at current rates, plus service at Rs 5-8 lakh yearly, but for those in the HNWI bracket, it's an investment in prestige. Compare to rivals like Mercedes-Maybach S-Class at half the price, yet the Ghost's exclusivity and V12 exclusivity make every rupee worthwhile if luxury is your priority—opt for fewer customizations to keep on-road under Rs 9 crore for better value.

In India, the Rolls-Royce Ghost starts at Rs 6.95 crore ex-showroom for the standard variant, rising to Rs 7.95 crore for the Extended Wheelbase, as per latest figures from authorised sources. On-road prices escalate dramatically due to 28% GST, road tax varying by state (around 10-15% in major cities like Delhi and Mumbai), plus insurance and fastag fees, pushing totals to approximately Rs 8.2-9.5 crore depending on location and customisations—options like bespoke paints or the Champagne cooler can add crores more. I view this as par for the course in the ultra-luxury segment; the ex-showroom base covers the core V12-powered marvel, but true ownership means budgeting for personalisation that elevates it beyond rivals. Running costs, including premium fuel and service at Rs 5-10 lakh annually, make it a commitment for high-net-worth individuals, yet the peerless experience—from the starlight headliner to effortless 250kmph top speed—delivers value through exclusivity and resale retention, aiding your decision if financial scale matches the Ghost's grandeur.

Mileage

Fuel efficiency information

I note the Rolls-Royce Ghost's official mileage at 6.33 kmpl under ideal conditions, but in India, real-world figures drop to 4-5 kmpl in city traffic and 6-7 kmpl on highways with its thirsty 6.75-litre V12. Running costs hit Rs 15-20 per km at Rs 100/litre petrol, so for mileage-focused buyers, it's impractical—factor Rs 4-5 lakh yearly fuel for 20,000 km. Choose it only if chauffeured luxury trumps efficiency; otherwise, hybrids save significantly.
December 15, 2025
I note the Rolls-Royce Ghost's claimed 6.33kmpl under ideal conditions with its thirsty 6.75-litre V12, but real-world figures in India drop to 4-5kmpl in mixed city-highway use amid traffic and premium fuel needs. Running costs suit those for whom fuel is negligible against the unmatched luxury—opt for a chauffeur to maximise comfort over efficiency, making it a smart buy if status trumps thrift.
