General information and overview

The Hyosung ST7 stands out in India as a 678cc liquid-cooled, DOHC 90-degree V-twin cruiser with fuel injection, pumping 57.6PS at 8000rpm and 57Nm for 0-100kmph in 7 seconds and 175kmph top speed, paired to a belt-drive 5-speed gearbox that's precise yet notchy. At 244kg kerb, it features radial tyres, double disc brakes, digital console, LED tail light, and plush suspension—telescopic forks upfront, dual shocks rear—for stable, comfortable rides with low-speed torque shining in traffic and highways up to 130kmph. Classic styling in black, red, white with heavy chrome screams old-school cruiser vibe, butter-smooth engine suits eating miles, though bulky handling, jerky throttle, and vibey top-end temper enthusiasm. For Indian buyers, it's perfect for weekend tours if you tolerate 18kmpl mileage and service quirks, delivering Harley-esque presence at lower entry, but demands test rides to confirm fit for your riding style and roads.

The Hyosung ST7 is a 678cc liquid‑cooled, 90° V‑twin cruiser with DOHC and fuel injection, producing engine outputs that make it a strong long‑distance machine while delivering around the mid‑50s to low‑60s bhp figures at relatively high rpm depending on source and tune, paired to a five‑speed gearbox and belt drive that emphasise classic cruiser character. It weighs in around the mid‑200 kg kerb mass, wears traditional cruiser geometry with a low seat and forward controls, and features double‑disc front braking, radial‑type tyres and a chrome‑heavy aesthetic that appeals to riders wanting old‑school cruiser looks combined with modern fuel injection and decent build quality. The bike is tuned to offer usable low‑end torque for city crawling and relaxed highway cruising, though it’s happiest midrange where it will eat miles comfortably; potential owners should test‑ride to assess the fuelling response and gearbox feel, and verify local parts/support options given Hyosung’s limited footprint in India.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

I find the Hyosung ST7 a compelling cruiser that punches above its weight with a refined 678cc V-twin engine delivering 57.6 PS at 8000rpm and 57Nm torque, offering strong low-end pull ideal for Indian highways where it cruises effortlessly at 100km/h without stress, hitting 150-160km/h in straight lines though stability wanes beyond 130km/h. The classic chrome-laden design, comfortable telescopic forks and dual rear shocks, plus double disc brakes, make it a stable mile-muncher for long rides, with good fit and finish from the Korean maker. However, the notchy 5-speed gearbox lacks a sixth gear for sustained high speeds, throttle response has a jerky delay, and at 244kg it's bulky for city traffic. In India, where cruisers evoke Harley vibes at a fraction of the cost, I recommend it for highway enthusiasts seeking butter-smooth power and old-school attitude, but test ride to check the vibrations and ensure parts availability, as running costs could add up if service lags—ultimately, it's a buy for those prioritizing touring grunt over urban agility.
December 12, 2025
I find the Hyosung ST7 to be a characterful cruiser that delivers strong mid-range shove, old-school cruiser styling and comfortable long‑distance ergonomics, but it feels dated in packaging and refinement compared with current rivals. I appreciate the torquey 678cc V‑twin’s willingness to pull from low revs and the planted, relaxed seating that makes highway miles easy, yet the high‑rev nature of its peak power and a 5‑speed gearbox mean it never feels as relaxed at sustained high speeds as modern 6‑speed cruisers. The bike’s fit and finish and chrome treatment are better than one might expect and the ride quality is composed thanks to compliant suspension, but the occasional fuelling jerk and notchy gearbox detract from everyday refinement. For buyers seeking a visually classic, comfortable long‑distance cruiser with character and usable performance, the ST7 is compelling; for those prioritising top‑end refinement, modern tech and best‑in‑class efficiency, there are more contemporary choices in the Indian market.

Recent news and announcements

The Hyosung ST7 has been noted for its affordable price point, making it an attractive option for entry-level cruiser enthusiasts. In India, the bike was priced around Rs. 2,29,999, offering a V-twin engine and a stylish cruiser design. I think this pricing strategy helped Hyosung gain traction in the Indian market.
November 15, 2024
Hyosung has improved the manufacturing quality of the ST7 over the years. Recent owners have reported better build quality and reliability, which is a significant improvement from earlier models. I believe this enhancement will boost customer confidence in the brand.
September 20, 2024
The Hyosung ST7 features a V-twin engine that provides a smooth and powerful ride, especially appealing for those who enjoy cruising. The bikes high torque and comfortable seating make it suitable for long tours, even with a pillion rider. I find the engines performance quite impressive for its class.
July 25, 2024
In terms of design, the ST7 boasts a classic cruiser look with features like thick balloon tires, massive mud flaps, and an honest metal tank. However, some critics have pointed out that the chrome instruments and protective plates could be of better quality. I think the overall aesthetic still holds up well.
May 16, 2024
The bike has been praised for its expansive handlebars and widely spaced footrests, which, although initially disconcerting, provide a comfortable riding experience. This design makes the ST7 a good choice for both casual and sports-oriented riders. I appreciate the versatility it offers.

Pricing details and changes

In India, the Hyosung ST7 carried an ex-showroom price around Rs 6.5-7 lakh when launched, making it an exuberant proposition even then against rivals like the Harley Street 750, though exact current figures are scarce due to its discontinued status in official channels—on-road prices, factoring Delhi or Mumbai registration, insurance, and taxes, pushed it to Rs 7.5-8 lakh, a premium for its imported Korean build and 678cc V-twin. I see this as a smart value play for buyers craving cruiser style without Harley's Rs 10 lakh-plus tag, offering superior power and refinement at similar heft, but the high initial outlay demands caution on resale, which dips sharply for ageing imports amid sparse service networks. Today, hunting pre-owned units could net you a deal under Rs 3-4 lakh on-road equivalent, factoring low depreciation if well-maintained, helping offset the poor mileage hit on running costs—ideal if you're in for long-term ownership and can source parts via aftermarket, making it a calculated buy for budget-conscious tourers eyeing bang-for-buck chrome and grunt.
December 12, 2025
New Hyosung ST7 examples in India historically retailed in a premium niche and, while Hyosung’s distribution has been intermittent, market listings and past launches positioned the ST7 well above mainstream middleweights — expect ex‑showroom pricing historically in the range that placed it closer to premium cruiser territory rather than mass‑market bikes, with on‑road costs (registration, insurance, state taxes) pushing the true buying price significantly higher in metropolitan cities. Because Hyosung’s presence in India has been limited and inventory inconsistent, actual asking prices for available new or used ST7s vary widely by city and dealer stock; used examples often trade with a premium or discount depending on condition and service history, and parts availability or dealer support can affect ownership cost. I advise prospective buyers to get a firm ex‑showroom quote from the nearest authorised importer/dealer (if available), add state RTO and insurance estimates for the on‑road figure, and factor in potential costs for imported spares and servicing due to limited local support when comparing value versus better‑supported rivals.

Mileage

Fuel efficiency information

I note the ST7's 18kmpl city-highway average suits moderate Indian use, but thirsty V-twin and short gearing mean real-world drops to 15kmpl on highways, hiking running costs at Rs 120/litre petrol—factor Rs 5-6/km versus efficient commuters' Rs 2/km, so it's viable if mileage isn't your top concern and you embrace its touring forte over daily commutes.
December 12, 2025
Real‑world fuel consumption for the ST7 in India typically falls around the high teens — many riders report figures near 16–19 kmpl depending on riding style and city versus highway use, which translates to moderate running costs for a 678cc V‑twin but higher fuel spend than smaller or more modern fuel‑efficient cruisers. If low running cost is a primary concern I would recommend comparing real ownership fuel logs and factoring in service/parts availability before committing.

Hyosung ST7 is currently the most expensive bike of Hyosung available in India. This bike will have direct competition with globally famous Harley Davidson in India. Will this bike be able to prove its worthiness? Let’s find out.

Hyosung ST7 is currently the most expensive bike of Hyosung available in India. This bike will have direct competition with globally famous Harley Davidson in India. Will this bike be able to prove its worthiness? Let’s find out.

Design and Style

Hyosung have tried to make this bike look royal and huge like any other cruiser bike. It looks majestic with its chrome finished long front telescopic forks and circular headlight when seen from the front. The round shaped rear view mirrors are mounted on its extremely wide handle bar which gives it a naked look. Side indicators are placed on its front forks which gel up well with its headlight. ST7 has a wide front fender which makes this bike look vintage with its strong alloy wheel and big disc plate. The bike looks explicit when seen from the side.

Its heavily chromed fatty twin silencers give it a nasty look and its chrome finished engine also complements the overall styling. The bike displays its name on its fuel tank which merges down with the rider seat. It has body colored side panel and rear cowl which has an angular chrome bar similar to its younger sibling, Aquila Pro. At the back, ST7 has a full size LED tail light and chrome surrounded clear lens indicators which are placed just below the rear seat. The bike lacks a separate rear fender and instead features an extended rear cowl which carries its tail light and number plate. The bike looks like a classic cruiser at the back with its extremely wide rear tyre and cowl.

Instrument Console

The instrument console of this bike is placed on its fuel tank and looks premium due to its chrome finish. Hyosung ST7 has a combined analogue digital instrument console which lacks a much needed Tachometer. The bike has a circular pod for its analogue speedometer which also houses a blue colored LCD inside it. This LCD displays digital odometer, clock, trip meter and fuel gauge. All the other indicators are placed below this circular dial.

Engine and Gearbox

Hyosung ST7 uses a 4stroke, V twin 678cc engine. This DOHC engine is exclusively designed for this bike. The maximum power and torque output of this 8 valve, water cooled engine is of 57.6 bhp and 57 nm which arrives at 8000 rpm and 6000 rpm respectively. Hyosung have mated this engine with a five speed manual gearbox with one gear down and four gears up-shift pattern.

Acceleration and Performance

The most interesting thing about this V twin engine is its power pulling at high rpms. The maximum power of this engine arrives at 8000rpm which means it gives you enough time to rev this bike unlike most of the other cruiser bikes which has short power band and utilizes most of their power initially. Certainly, it lacks refinement at high rpms but it’s not that disturbing either. The gear ratios are extremely well proportioned and feel on the taller side. The initial strong torque pulling of this engine allows this bike to move at slow speeds in big gears despite its heavy weight. The bike manages to do 0-100km/hr in less than 7 seconds but to do so you have to use its throttle effectively. Apart from negligible vibrations, there are no issues with this engine. The bike cruises really smooth around 130-140km/hr and can go all the way to 176km/hr.

Mileage

The bike may return a fuel efficiency of around 12-14km/ltr in city conditions while these figures may increase by 3km/ltr on highways.

Comfort while Driving

You have to be really comfortable to drive a bike of this size and ST7 does offer you this comfort. It offers a low seating posture which allows you to take the weight of this bike. Its heavily padded seat gives you nice support and you can sit on this bike for hours. The bike is best for short riders while tall riders will also find it comfortable with their knees relaxing on its front set foot-pegs. Its wide and upraised handle bar can be reached easily which gives you complete command over this bike which is much needed at high speeds. One thing which may bother you is its low positioned speedometer as you will have to take your eyes off the road to give it a look. Apart from this, everything is just fine.

Storage Space and Safety Features

The bike has no storage space. It has some vital safety features like powerful halogen headlight and 4 piston front brake callipers.

Suspension and Brakes

Hyosung ST7 has adjustable 41mm inverted front forks while it features swing arm with double hydraulic shock absorbers at the back. The bike comes equipped with disc brakes on its both wheels. It has front and rear disc brake of 300mm and 270mm respectively.

Ride and Handling

Hyosung ST7 loses out to its competitors in this department as it has certain flaws. Its rear suspension is a real disappointment as the bike finds it hard to stay stable around corners as a result of which its rear tyre also fails to hold this bike effectively. Things get better only when you cruise on highways thanks to its extended wheelbase of 1690mm which adds stability to this bike. It also helps while turning around corners at slow speed. One can easily handle this bike on highways but dealing with it in city traffic is a matter of concern. The braking system is quite impressive as it always manage to keep this hefty machine under control. Its big rear disc brake helps you to stop this bike precisely.

Tyre Size and Variants

Hyosung ST7 has 16 inches alloy at its front and 15 inches alloy wheel at the back. It is only available in one variant.

Shades

Hyosung ST7 is available in three shades: Red, Black and White.

Verdict

Hyosung have priced ST7 at INR 5.79lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi (approx., may vary)). We are not impressed by the ride and handling of this bike and we don’t think it’s a complete value for money bike. Hyosung have certainly overpriced this bike and there is no way that people will choose this bike over Harley Davidson which offers much powerful and refined engine with superior ride and handling.
