Will the Royal Enfield Roadster 350 eat into sales of Classic 350 and Hunter 350?
The introduction of Royal Enfield Roadster 350 into the company's product line has led to speculation about cannibalizing the company's own market. As the Classic 350 has been a longtime bestseller, and the Hunter 350 getting popular recently, the question of how the Roadster will fit in to the mix is raised. They also argue it gives Royal Enfield more options in the 350cc segment to better cater to rider preferences and styles and thus contribute to a wider market share. Still others fear that too many similar models will confuse customers and depress sales across the board. The discussion of this debate in this paper is closely related to other issues of product differentiation, market segmentation, and the brand strategy in the motorcycle industry. It also begs the question of what Royal Enfield’s long term plans are for their 350cc platform and how they will keep each model relevant and distinct in a very crowded market.

This is the long game that RE is playing here. The reality is that they’re building brand loyalty, as they have something for everyone in the 350cc class.

I believe it will actually increase overall sales. The Roadster might be just right for people who were on the fence about the Classic or Hunter.

It's a smart move by RE. They are building a 350cc ecosystem. More choices are always accompanied by more potential customers.

As a owner of a Hunter I don't see the Roadster as competition. It's a whole different vibe altogether.

I think it will confuse people. There are too many similar options and it can be overwhelming. These models need to be clearly differentiated by RE.

Sure, it might eat a little bit into Classic 350 sales, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. In the 350cc segment, RE is just covering all their bases.

No, I don't think it will cannibalize sales. Every man has his own strokes. It will have its own crowd.
