You can put your key inside the lock and pull the choke, which is located exactly parallel to the lock on the left side. Then, if the electric starter is not working, you can pull out the kick on the left side of the scooter and give it a try. It will take 2-3 kicks at first but if you regularly try starting it with the kick starter, it will work on the first attempt.
