Is the Marazzo's shark inspired design actually cool? Or just a gimmick?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views5 comments
From the grille to the overall shape, Mahindra made a big deal about the shark inspired exterior design of the Marazzo. Even they named it after the Basque word for shark. However, does this design really work well in a family MPV? Others say it gives the Marazzo a distinctive, aggressive look that is different from other boxy people movers. Some think it's just marketing fluff for what's basically still a big van. Since the launch of the Marazzo, there has been a debate around whether this design language works or if Mahindra tried too hard to make a utilitarian vehicle look sporty. It’s also stoked debate over whether MPVs need to be exciting to look at or not, or whether functionality should really be the sole focus of this segment.

The shark thing is a stretch, but at least they tried to style it. Most companies just phone in MPVs. It's refreshing to try to make it look somewhat sporty, even if it's not perfect.

It's growing on me. Initially I felt it was trying too hard, but compared to other MPVs it does have a more premium, almost crossover like vibe. Not a full shark, but certainly less boring than the competition.

I'm on the fence. I think some angles look pretty sleek, but from other angles it’s just awkward. The rear still screams "mom van" to me but the front end pulls it off okay. Points for effort though.

Nah, it's totally a gimmick. If you have angles, you can slap 'shark inspired' on anything. In the end it’s just a big van for hauling the family around. It doesn't drive any better, or fit more people.

The shark design I think actually works pretty well. In a segment full of boring boxes on wheels, it gives the Marazzo some character. Of course, it’s still really obviously an MPV, but at least Mahindra tried to make it look interesting.
