How does the Force Traveller 26 perform in hilly places?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views5 comments
Used often to transport tourists in mountainous regions of India, the Force Traveller 26 is a rather controversial vehicle in terms of its performance in such conditions. Its strong build and dependability are praised by some drivers, who also say it climbs steep inclines when not overloaded. Yet others gripe about poor power on long uphills, especially when fully loaded with passengers, or cargo. There is also talk of the vehicle's high center of gravity, which makes the vehicle feel unstable on winding mountain roads. Braking performance on descents is also in question. Questions are raised as to how it stacks up to newer competitors in the ability to climb hills, and its mountain driving safety features. Some users have modified it to run better in hilly terrain.

The stock Traveller is merely mediocre in the hills, but with a couple modifications it can be great. So I added better brakes, upgraded the suspension, and tweaked the engine a little. It now handles mountain roads like a champ. It’s all about how you’re going to make it work.

People have been too hard on the Traveller, I think. It’s old school, but that’s what makes it reliable in tough conditions. With all their electronics, modern vans can be a headache to fix in the middle of nowhere. The Traveller just goes on.

It’s all about technique I drive. The Traveller does okay if you know how to handle a heavy vehicle in the mountains. It's definitely showing its age compared to newer vans though. Some models don’t have power steering, which is a real arm workout on those hairpin turns!

Are you kidding? In the hills, the Traveller is a nightmare. The brakes overheat on long descents and it’s underpowered. I've had some scary moments with tourists in the back. Now, there are much better options out there.

The Traveller 26 is a beast on those mountain roads and I’ve driven them in Himachal. It’s not the fastest, but it’s stable and the low gearing really helps on steep climbs. As long as you don’t overload it, you’ll be fine.
