Does the Bajaj Discover 125M really live up to its claims of being the 'king of mileage'?

by @ashutosh.kumarover 1 year ago0 views7 answers
For years, Bajaj has marketed the Discover 125M as a fuel efficient commuter and has even boasted impressive mileage figures. However, these real world experiences can be pretty far from the claims made by the manufacturers. Some people say that it’s the best thing they have ever used, others feel cheated. Actual fuel economy is also affected by factors such as riding style, maintenance and, even, climate. Of course, it begs the question of whether prioritising mileage is at the expense of performance or features. Now let's see what the community has to say and debate if the Discover 125M really is the fuel sipper it’s being touted as or if it’s just marketing hype.

I think it’s a decent middle ground. It’s not the absolute best, but it’s definitely better than most 125cc bikes out there. It's also more fun to ride than some of the ultra fuel efficient, but boring options.

You’re all missing the point. Yes, the mileage is nice, but what about the maintenance cost? Any fuel savings are eaten up by those frequent services.

Good mileage, but what is the cost? At higher speeds the engine feels strained, and the vibrations are annoying. I’d rather have a little less mileage and a more refined ride.

It's all about how you ride. On highway runs, I’ve touched 75 kmpl, keeping the speed steady at 50-55 kmph. It drops the city mileage to about 60 kmpl but that's still great.

King of mileage? More like court jester. With less hassle, my friends Honda shine gives better numbers.

It's decent... not mind blowing. On average I get 55-60 kmpl which is good but not 80+ kmpl as claimed in Bajaj’s ads.

Absolutely! In city riding I have been getting 65-70 kmpl consistently. This is a game changer for my wallet.
