Can you forgive the quirks of the Nissan Juke for its fuel efficiency?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views7 comments
Many potential buyers of the Nissan Juke have wanted to know how economical it is, with the car being small and people generally expecting small cars to be more economical. The Juke came equipped with its 1.6 liter turbocharged engine and CVT transmission to achieve an equilibrium in the performance to fuel economy equation. But real world fuel consumption is often at odds with official figures and some Juke owners are mixed. But whether it's good enough in fuel efficiency to outweigh its other controversial elements – including its polarizing design, tiny interior space, and CVT transmission – is open for debate. But for some, good fuel economy could be a redeeming factor for the Juke, a vehicle with plenty of quirks. Fuel efficiency may never be enough to compete with the more conventional shortcomings of this vehicle for others. As this debate continues, it raises many questions about the tradeoffs consumers are willing to accept between efficiency, practicality, and design in their vehicle selection.

It's all relative. The Juke feels super efficient to me coming from a big SUV. And it’s a hell of a lot more interesting to look at. Win-win in my book.

Fuel economy in the real world is disappointing. But I'm not seeing it, Nissan talks up the efficiency. But it’s definitely not enough to make up for the cramped interior and the weird CVT.

I bought my Juke for the looks and it's small size. It's just a bonus to the fuel efficiency. It isn't great, but it is good enough that I don't regret my choice.

Everyone is too obsessed with fuel efficiency. The Juke is fun to drive and people will notice it. I'll take that few extra bucks at the pump.

It's not bad for fuel efficiency, but it's not good enough to compensate for all the other things. I would rather have another normal looking car, with similar MPG, and more space.

In the city, I get great mileage in my Juke. Not a Prius, but pretty good for something with a bit of pep. It definitely helps counter the quirks for me.

It’s not mind blowing fuel efficiency, but it’s decent. Basically, Nissan is saying, 'Here's this weird looking car, but at least you won't go bankrupt at the pump... entirely.'
