Can the Hyundai Venue CNG be used for Highway trips and long distance travel?

by @ashutosh.kumarover 1 year ago0 views7 answers
Hyundai Venue CNG is popular in city driving because of its fuel efficiency, but it comes under the scanner when it comes to long drive and highway use. One of the biggest issues for potential buyers is the fact that there are few CNG stations beyond major cities. Because of this limitation, you can become anxious of running out of fuel on long trips and have to plan your route very carefully. It also means in CNG mode there is less performance on the highway compared to petrol when it comes to overtaking or climbing hills. The installation of a CNG tank also compromises boot space, and these are not the kind of luggage you can pack for a long trip. Top 10 reasons to fly rather than drive: On the other hand, proponents say fuel cost savings can more than outweigh these inconveniences, especially for travelers who fly often. It's a debate that usually centres around economy vs convenience, the developing CNG infrastructure in the country, and whether the Venue CNG can be a truly versatile all purpose vehicle to do both city and highway running.

Long trips have substantial fuel savings. Yes, you need to plan a bit more but the money you save can afford you a nice hotel upgrade at your destination!

Adapting your driving style is all. After a while you get used to planning your refueling stops and driving more conservatively, and it's actually a lot of fun for long trips.

In the city, I love my Venue CNG, but for long trips, I usually rent another car. The real problem with family vacations is a boot space limitation.

It's OK for occasional long trips. If you’re doing lots of highway runs though, you might be better off with the petrol variant for peace of mind.

On highways, overtaking is noticeable as the reduced power. It's not dangerous, just more planning and patience.

If you plan your route well, it's actually not bad. I’ve done a few 500 km trips and with a little research on CNG station locations it was a breeze.

It wouldn’t be my choice for long trips. A real pain is the lack of CNG stations on highways. And you'll end up switching to petrol mode quite often, which is kind of the point.
