Are the Lykan Hypersports’ diamond encrusted headlights something practical, or just bling bling?

by @ashutosh.kumarover 1 year ago0 views7 answers
The Lykan Hypersport is one of the most talked about features of the car, and its headlights, which are purportedly embedded with diamonds. The design element that makes this car so unique has also started to stir up discussions about the line between luxury and excess in automotive design. To some, it’s an innovative use of precious materials in a car’s functional components, to others, it’s an unnecessary and potentially dangerous gimmick. The debate also extends to practicality of such features in a high performance vehicle, the target market for cars with such extravagant touches and whether such features actually add value to a supercar or amount to nothing more than a way to increase the price without increasing performance or functionality.

It’s a neat talking point, but I’d rather they spend that money on performance upgrades.

I see it as automotive art. Just because it isn’t practical doesn't make it not valuable.

It's ridiculous. Can you imagine having to replace those should they be damaged? Talk about expensive repairs!

The LEDs are actually inside the housing of the LED, so they are actually serving a purpose other than making things look all flashy.

I think it's cool. Nobody buying a multi million dollar car cares about practicality anyway.

That’s the point, it’s excessive. Even in design, hypercars are about pushing boundaries.

Pure bling. They don’t make the visibility better, they’re just there to jack up the price tag.
