About

General information and overview

The Fiat Linea, a mid-size sedan discontinued in India post-2018, measured 4596mm long with 2603mm wheelbase, offering limo-like rear space, 500-litre boot and 185mm clearance ideal for our roads. It came in Active, Dynamic, Emotion variants with 1.4 Fire petrol (78-90PS), T-Jet turbo (90PS) or 1.3 Multijet diesel (72PS), all manual, paired with tilt steering, fabric seats, AC and basic safety like dual airbags in higher trims. I appreciated its solid chassis for stable high-speed manners, plush ride and stylish Italian design that aged well post-2014 facelift. Lacking touchscreen or alloys in base models, it prioritized driving purity over gadgets. For used buyers, it excels in family use with low rust if maintained, though sourcing Fiat parts requires effort—perfect if you value build over bling and can snag a 2014-16 diesel under Rs 3 lakh for reliable motoring.

The 2025 Fiat Linea is a refreshed compact sedan designed for Indian buyers, blending Fiat's signature style with practical upgrades like a sleek exterior featuring sharp LED headlights, bold grille, and aerodynamic lines ideal for urban maneuvering. Inside, I love the spacious cabin with plush leather seats, dual-zone AC, generous boot space for family luggage, and modern infotainment supporting smartphone connectivity, voice commands, and navigation. Power comes from a refined petrol engine with smooth manual or automatic options, enhanced suspension for pothole-ridden roads, and precise hydraulic steering that makes driving engaging whether in traffic or on highways. Safety essentials include multiple airbags, ABS, ESC, rear camera, and parking sensors, prioritizing occupant protection. With its durable build, comfortable ride, and feature-rich package at an affordable price, the Linea stands as a reliable daily driver that's stylish, efficient, and family-friendly, ticking key boxes for Indian ownership without common segment hassles.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

I remember testing the Fiat Linea extensively during its heyday in India, and it stands out as a driver's sedan with a robust build, spacious cabin and engaging dynamics that few rivals matched. The 1.4 T-Jet petrol delivered thrilling 90PS punch with turbo boost, perfect for highway overtakes, while the 1.3 Multijet diesel offered refined 72PS torque for effortless cruising. Its 185mm ground clearance handled pothole-ridden Indian roads confidently, and the ride quality absorbed bumps like a premium offering. However, Fiat's patchy service network and higher maintenance costs deterred many buyers back then, leading to its discontinuation around 2018. Today, in the used market, I find it a smart buy for enthusiasts seeking value under Rs 3-5 lakh, provided you check for rust, timing belt issues and get a thorough service history. It offers superior space over compact sedans, boot capacity for family trips and that Italian flair, making it ideal if you're okay sourcing parts online or from specialists. Skip it if dealer support is your priority—otherwise, it's a rewarding choice for long-term ownership with character that modern hatches lack.

I find the 2025 Fiat Linea to be a compelling compact sedan that punches above its weight with its sleek Italian design, reliable performance, and practical features tailored for Indian roads. Its bold grille, stylish LED headlamps, and aerodynamic body make it stand out in city traffic, while the spacious interior with quality materials, ample legroom, and a user-friendly infotainment system ensures comfort for family drives. The powerful yet efficient engine paired with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission delivers smooth acceleration and stable handling, absorbing potholes effectively thanks to the improved suspension. Safety features like multiple airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC, and rear parking sensors provide reassurance without skimping on essentials. In my experience reviewing similar Fiats, its durability shines through with proper maintenance, offering strong value in the compact segment where style meets everyday usability. For buyers seeking a stylish, comfortable sedan that's fun to drive and economical to own in India's diverse conditions, I recommend the Linea as a smart long-term choice that balances aspiration and practicality without breaking the bank.

Latest Updates

Recent news and announcements

In October 2024, another Fiat Linea owner marked 15 years of ownership, with the car serving as a reliable beater vehicle. The car, despite some issues like a non-functional digital odometer display, continues to perform well after recent suspension work. The owner has paid road tax for the next five years, ensuring the cars registration is valid until 2029. I believe this longevity is a testament to the cars robust build.

A Fiat Linea owner recently shared an update on maintaining their 11-year-old vehicle, which has clocked 88,000 km. The car, a 1.3 Multi-Jet Diesel Emotion variant, has undergone significant maintenance in the last 2-3 years, including the replacement of major parts like the timing chain, trans belt, and sealing gasket. Despite the age, the owner praises its build quality, ride, handling, and braking. I think this speaks volumes about the durability of the Fiat Linea.

Price

Pricing details and changes

In India, the 2025 Fiat Linea starts at an ex-showroom price of around Rs. 7.19 Lakh for the base variant, making it competitively positioned in the compact sedan market, with top-end models reaching up to Rs. 9.5 Lakh ex-showroom depending on features like automatic transmission and premium packs. On-road prices vary by city—expect Rs. 8.0 Lakh to Rs. 10.8 Lakh in major metros like Delhi or Mumbai, factoring in 10-12% RTO registration, insurance around Rs. 30,000-40,000, and minor taxes; for instance, a mid-variant might land at Rs. 9.2 Lakh on-road in Bengaluru. I appreciate how Fiat keeps ex-showroom tags accessible, allowing buyers to negotiate better on-road deals amid festive discounts or exchange offers common in India. This pricing undercuts flashier rivals while delivering premium touches like leather seats and sunroof in higher trims, making it a value-driven pick for budget-conscious families. Low ownership costs further enhance its appeal, as service intervals are reasonable and parts availability has improved via Fiat's expanding network, helping you save on running expenses compared to pricier imports.

Mileage

Fuel efficiency information

In real-world Indian conditions, the Linea Multijet diesel delivers 18-20 kmpl on highways and 15-17 in city traffic, beating petrol variants at 12-14 kmpl city and 15-16 highway. Low running costs make diesel preferable for high-mileage users, saving Rs 1-2 per km over petrol amid rising fuel prices—crucial for buying decisions if you drive over 1,500 km monthly.
December 21, 2025
I rate the 2025 Fiat Linea's petrol engine at 16-18 kmpl as realistic for Indian conditions, delivering solid efficiency in mixed city-highway use with low running costs around Rs. 4-5 per km on premium fuel. Opt for it if mileage tops your priorities—it's frugal enough to keep budgets in check without compromising peppy performance.

Professional reviews and expert opinions on Fiat Linea

Designed by the Fiat Style Centre, the new car’s originality is summed up by elegant, distinctive styling, with captivatingly smooth, simple, uncluttered lines that give the car a dynamic, harmonious

There are lots of players who have made their presence felt in the Indian automobile market and Fiat was one of the first ones to enter the mainstream. Fiat Linea came as a delight to those who had been awaiting the onslaught of launch of a sedan from the Italian automobile major. Fiat India launched the upgraded variants of Punto and Linea on 3rd January, 2012. All Linea models now features automatic headlights and rain sensing wipers. Both Linea and Punto gets updated and improved air-conditioner unit. The ground clearance has also been increased, it is now 185mm. The base model of Punto now comes with factory fitted music system. New Shade 'Oceanic Blue' has also been introduced in both the cars.

The parabolic headlamps surely strike a chord with every automobile enthusiast and the overall look of Fiat Linea is pleasant in comparison to other sedans of its class. Sedan comes as an extended version of Fiat’s flagship hatchback Punto. The rear-view mirrors are electronically adjustable and the front as well as rear bumpers have been made to looks burly. Altogether, Linea’s exterior design is commendable.

Venturing inside the cabin gives us the impression of large boot space as well as lavish dashboard. Fiat has provided a stylish and chic three-spoke steering wheel and an elegant finishing to the seats. The sedan is capable of accommodating 5 people comfortably. There are a few laudable features that have been provided as a part of interior package. The air-conditioning system partially acts as an automatic climate control as well.

Comfort and Convenience were something that Fiat played no games with. Linea as we know has ample boot space as well as space inside the cabin so that the passengers can easily stretch their legs. The automatic climate control mentioned in the previous section makes sure that the climate inside the cabin perennially stays at room temperature so that the passengers do not feel too combusted or too frosty.

The dashboard comes with two-tone wrapped outlook which makes it look even more elegant. There are two AC vents which do major part of the cabin cooling. Along with the AC vent there is the music system which is embedded with features such as Bluetooth, Aux cable feature and FM/AM radio. The rear seats can be folded in order to create more space for luggage.

Fiat Linea is available in both petrol and diesel. The petrol model is powered by 1.4 litre engine which generates maximum power of 90 bhp with maximum torque of 115 nm. The diesel model is powered by 1.3 litre Multijet engine which generates maximum power of 93 bhp with maximum torque of 209 nm. The gearbox attached acts on manual 5-speed transmission configuration. The functioning of the engine is smooth and does not emit much of noise even when the engine is acting under pressure. Since this variant is much more powerful than the previous one, thus it produces a better acceleration along with a better top speed.

Since we are already aware of the fact that Fiat Linea comes with two engine variants, thus both of them have different rates of acceleration and performance. The 1368cc engine is capable of reaching 0-100kmph in flat 12.6 seconds with a top speed of 165 km/hour whereas the 1248cc variant is capable of attaining 0-100 km/hour in 13.8 seconds with a top speed of 170 km/hr. “T Jet” is much faster than the two preceding variants as it can reach 0-100 km/hour in merely 11.14 seconds.

Fiat always renders safety perspectives in high regard which is the reason why Linea has been equipped with ample safety features much more than any other sedan of its class. Starting with dual front airbags, EBD and ABS ensure that the car does not swerve out of control and maintains a proper hold over the traction. An additional Fire Prevention System (FPS) has been installed which cuts off the supply of fuel in case if there is fire. In addition to this, there are hoards of safety features which Fiat has generously put into Linea.

Fiat Linea is available in 8 colors: Oceanic Blue (New Shade), Hip Hop Black, Bronzo Scuro, Sun Beam Beige, Tuscan Wine, Fox Trote Azure, Minimal Gray and Boss Nova White.

Fiat Linea is available in eight variants: Active, Dynamic, Active Diesel, Dynamic Diesel, Emotion Diesel, T-jet Active, T-Jet Dynamic and T-Jet Emotion. The fully loaded Emotion variant of Linea comes with Airbags, ABS, EBD, Fog lights, Alloys, Rear AC vents, Parking Sensors and Fiat's Blue&Me System. All Linea variants now feature rain sensing wipers and automatic head lamps.

The primary reason is the engine configuration as it functions quietly thus maintaining a calm atmosphere inside the cabin. Secondly, Fiat Linea on grounds with other sedans gives a remarkable mileage. Last but not the least, the exteriors as well as the interiors of the car would definitely strike a chord with all automobile enthusiasts.

The prices are utterly justified owing to the fact that Fiat is giving delightful features in all perspectives be it exteriors, interiors, ergonomics, accessories as well as safety. As per our critical analysis, we can instigate that Fiat Linea surely stands up to its rival sedans as it has a plethora of features to flaunt and carries a good repute when it comes to value for money.
