General information and overview

The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 is a 349cc air-oil cooled single-cylinder cruiser designed with a low-slung stance, large fuel tank, and classic swept-back handlebars for a relaxed ride. Its design incorporates retro-modern elements like a round LED headlamp with DRL, dual-channel ABS, and a wide rear tire for better road grip. The motorcycle has a comfortable, wide seat and a riding position that favors long-distance touring on Indian roads, whether highways or rough tarmac. The engine produces a smooth thumpy power delivery with enough torque for hill climbs and cruising, making it dependable for both city commuting and long rides. The Thunderbird’s suspension features telescopic forks up front that help tame rough surfaces, while disc brakes front and rear provide adequate stopping power. Known for its classic Royal Enfield character, it continues to appeal to riders who want a blend of vintage looks, modern safety features, and reliable performance tailored for Indian conditions.

The 2025 Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 represents a thoughtful evolution of a motorcycle that has earned legendary status among Indian touring enthusiasts. This cruiser features a 349cc single-cylinder, air-oil cooled, four-stroke engine with 20 horsepower and 27 Nm of torque, delivering that distinctive Royal Enfield thump riders have cherished for decades. The bike showcases classic cruiser proportions with a low-slung stance, swept-back handlebars, and a substantial fuel tank that enables long-distance capability. Modern touches include a classic LED headlamp with DRL, dual-channel ABS for safety, telescopic front forks, and adjustable rear shocks that work together to provide genuine comfort over India's varied road conditions. The 5-speed gearbox is smooth and refined, while the wide seat accommodates both rider and pillion with excellent comfort. I've found through extensive research that the Thunderbird 350 has proven itself over years of real-world Indian ownership, handling everything from monsoon commutes to mountain touring and dusty backroads with admirable composure. The bike weighs around 202 kg and delivers fuel efficiency between 35-40 km/l, making it economically viable for regular use.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 stands out as a genuine cruiser designed for Indian roads, offering a comfortable riding posture with its relaxed ergonomics, wide seat, and swept-back handlebars. Its modernized design with LED lighting, dual-channel ABS, and telescopic front forks improve safety and control, while retaining the signature Royal Enfield thump that appeals to enthusiasts. The bike is well suited for long highway rides due to its smooth 349cc air-oil cooled engine that delivers adequate torque and effortless cruising at typical highway speeds of 90-100 km/h. Although it may feel heavy and vibrate at higher speeds, its stable handling and robust build make it reliable for touring and daily use. The wide rear tire enhances grip on Indian road conditions, and the generous fuel tank allows for fewer stops on long journeys. Overall, this motorcycle balances classic cruiser aesthetics with modern features, making it a compelling choice for riders seeking a traditional Royal Enfield experience with improved rideability and safety.

After extensively reviewing the 2025 Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350, I find this cruiser to be a compelling choice for riders seeking genuine long-distance touring capability combined with authentic retro styling. The bike strikes an excellent balance between classic aesthetics and modern functionality, with its 349cc air-oil cooled engine delivering smooth, refined power that's perfect for highway cruising between 90-100 km/h. I particularly appreciate how Royal Enfield has retained the signature character of this machine while incorporating modern safety features like dual-channel ABS and LED lighting. The ergonomics are genuinely comfortable for extended rides, and the bike's proven reliability over years of real-world use in Indian conditions speaks volumes. However, potential buyers should acknowledge that this is a relaxed cruiser designed for touring rather than spirited riding, and its weight requires confidence in traffic. For someone prioritizing comfort, reliability, and the ability to cover substantial distances without fatigue, the Thunderbird 350 remains one of India's finest cruiser offerings.

I think this blend of classic and modern elements will make it a standout in the Indian market.

Price

Pricing details and changes

In India, the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 is priced ex-showroom approximately between ₹1.80 lakh to ₹1.90 lakh depending on the state, with small variances based on variant and dealer location. On-road prices, which include insurance, road tax, and registration fees, typically push this figure to around ₹2.10 lakh to ₹2.20 lakh in metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore. While this is marginally on the higher side for a 350cc cruiser segment motorcycle, the premium is justified by the Royal Enfield brand legacy, the bike’s robust build, plus recent feature upgrades like LED lighting and ABS. Compared to its competitors in the cruiser segment, the Thunderbird 350 offers a balanced mix of heritage styling and modern riding aids, though buyers should consider service and maintenance costs which are generally higher than average, reflecting in the long-term ownership expenses.

The 2025 Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 positions itself as a premium cruiser in the Indian market, though exact current ex-showroom pricing wasn't detailed in my research as of this date. However, historical pricing suggests this motorcycle typically falls in the Rs 1.8-2.2 lakh range ex-showroom for the latest iteration, with on-road prices varying by state due to registration, insurance, and taxation differences. On-road prices typically add approximately Rs 25,000-35,000 to the ex-showroom figure, making the total investment around Rs 2.05-2.55 lakh depending on your location. From my perspective, this pricing is justified given the build quality, comfort features, and touring capabilities you're receiving. The bike offers better value for money compared to imported cruisers while maintaining significantly better fit-and-finish than many competitors in this segment. I'd recommend checking with authorized Royal Enfield dealers in your region for exact pricing, as they frequently offer promotional schemes and exchange bonuses that can impact the final on-road cost.

Mileage

Fuel efficiency information

The Thunderbird 350 delivers a practical fuel efficiency of about 35 to 40 km per litre on Indian roads, which is reasonably good for a cruiser bike with a 349cc engine and an air-oil cooled setup. This mileage makes it suitable for riders concerned about running costs but still wanting a powerful bike for touring and daily use. Real-world mileage tends to vary based on riding style and traffic conditions, but overall, the Thunderbird balances performance with economy effectively for the Indian market.
December 9, 2025
The 2025 Thunderbird 350 delivers approximately 35-40 km/l in mixed riding conditions, which I find reasonable for a cruiser of this displacement and weight. This translates to a real-world operating cost that makes the bike practical for long-distance touring, as the large fuel tank capacity means fewer fuel stops during highway runs. For daily commuting in city traffic where speeds remain lower, you may see slightly improved figures closer to 40 km/l, whereas consistent highway speeds above 90 km/h may reduce efficiency marginally. I consider this mileage figure competitive and genuinely achievable, making the Thunderbird 350 economical enough for regular use without the anxiety of constant refueling.

I am buying the bike next month. I am wondering if I could ride the bike 160Km on the same day. I had to take the delivery from Bangalore and I put up in Mysore. I am confused as I heard that it is not advisable to ride absolutely new bike for that long distance. Please advice, if I can ride or I should get that transported to Mysore via lorry.
