General information and overview

The Mahindra Mojo, a discontinued BS6 street-touring bike in India, packs a 294.72cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with 26.45bhp at 8000rpm and 30Nm at 5500rpm, paired to a slick 6-speed gearbox for effortless 100+km/h cruises. Weighing 186kg with 815mm seat height and 21-litre tank, it handles Indian potholes via 43mm USD forks and adjustable monoshock, plus dual disc brakes for secure stops. Available in four colours—Black Pearl, Garnet Black, Ruby Red, Red Agate—it boasted upright ergonomics, comfy seats for 600km rides, and tubeless tyres. User-rated 5/5 for comfort and value, with affordable ₹2500 services, it excels for highway hauls under ₹2.5 lakh on-road, though lacks ABS; perfect for practical buyers eyeing used deals over flashy newcomers.

The Mahindra Mojo is a 294.7cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected motorcycle with a 6-speed gearbox, 21‑litre fuel tank, 186.2kg kerb weight and a touring-focused chassis that blends street manners with long-distance comfort. It is offered in a single trim in recent years with a few colour options and received a BS6 update; key selling points are its strong midrange torque (around 26–27 bhp and 30 Nm claimed), comfortable upright ergonomics, long-travel suspension and an engine tuned for tractable, usable power rather than peak revs. The bike’s equipment list is basic compared with some modern rivals — electronics and rider aids are minimal — but it compensates with a capacious fuel tank, predictable handling and a seat designed for day-long comfort, making it suited to highway touring and everyday commuting with occasional luggage. Service network and aftersales experiences are variable across cities, so I recommend checking local dealer support, test-riding the bike fully loaded if you plan to tour, and comparing ownership cost against similarly priced 300cc models before finalising a purchase.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

I find the Mahindra Mojo a compelling choice for riders seeking a versatile touring bike in India, with its 294.72cc liquid-cooled engine delivering 26.45bhp and 30Nm torque for smooth highway cruising at 100-110km/h without strain. The upright riding position and plush seat kept me comfortable during a 600km ride, proving its long-distance prowess, while the 21-litre fuel tank and 815mm seat height suit varied Indian roads. Braking with dual discs is confident, and the 6-speed gearbox shifts precisely. Though discontinued, used models offer value if you prioritize performance over modern features like ABS in rivals; service costs around ₹2500 keep ownership affordable, making it ideal for budget-conscious tourers wanting reliability and fun without premium pricing.
December 13, 2025
I find the Mahindra Mojo to be a niche motorcycle that rewards riders who prioritise touring comfort, a torquey 295cc engine and planted highway manners over outright sportbike performance. I appreciate its long-range 21‑litre tank and relaxed ergonomics that make big days in the saddle comfortable, though the bike’s 186kg kerb weight and dated electronics package mean it won’t satisfy riders chasing the lightest, most tech-rich 300cc rivals. The engine delivers usable midrange torque and a smooth 6‑speed gearbox that suits real-world riding, while the chassis inspires confidence on sweepers and loaded touring runs. Fit-and-finish and dealer support can be mixed depending on city, so I recommend inspecting a factory-fresh demo and checking recent owner feedback locally before committing. If you value a fuss-free, long-legged middleweight for touring and comfortable daily use, the Mojo remains a sensible, characterful choice in the current Indian market; if you want the latest electronics, sharper handling or lighter weight, consider competing 300cc bikes before buying.

Price

Pricing details and changes

In India, the Mahindra Mojo's ex-showroom prices for its BS6 variants ranged from ₹1.99 lakh for Black Pearl to ₹2.11 lakh for Ruby Red, with Garnet Black at ₹2.06-2.09 lakh and Red Agate at ₹2.17 lakh, reflecting colour-based premiums on a single trim structure. On-road prices added RTO and insurance, like ₹2.36 lakh in Chennai (₹2.08 lakh ex-showroom + ₹18,140 RTO + ₹10,384 insurance) or up to ₹2.46 lakh for Ruby Red elsewhere, varying by city due to local taxes. I view this as a strong value proposition even post-discontinuation—cheaper than current adventure-tourers like Yezdi Adventure at ₹2.1 lakh, allowing buyers to snag used units under ₹2 lakh, saving on depreciation while getting premium touring traits; factor in low service costs for total ownership under rivals, aiding budget decisions.
December 13, 2025
I see ex-showroom pricing for the Mojo in India varying by city and colour/variant history — commonly reported ex-showroom figures sit around ₹1.99–₹2.17 lakh depending on location and listing. Typical on-road prices I find in metro areas range roughly ₹2.20–₹2.60 lakh after RTO and insurance, with example on-road estimates like Chennai at ₹2.36 lakh and Mumbai/Bengaluru in the ₹2.42–₹2.57 lakh band. Market listings and dealer quotes from late 2024–2025 show some regional variation and occasional promotional pricing, so I advise getting a live on-road quote from your nearest Mahindra (or authorised reseller) to lock exact figures for registration, insurance and any optional accessories. Given the Mojo’s positioning, its price sits above many 200–250cc commuters but below premium middleweights with richer tech; I consider it fairly priced for buyers who prioritise long-range comfort and engine character, though total ownership cost and resale prospects should factor into your decision because the model’s market presence has been niche compared with mainstream rivals.

Mileage

Fuel efficiency information

I observed the Mojo delivering 25-27kmpl in Indian city traffic and 36-38kmpl on highways, averaging 30-32kmpl owner-reported, close to its 25kmpl ARAI claim. With ₹100/litre fuel, running costs stay low at ₹3-4/km, making it practical for daily and touring use versus thirstier 300cc peers—buy if mileage trumps top-end power.
December 13, 2025
Real-world mileage I’ve seen from owner reports and tests is in the low 30s kmpl under mixed riding, with some riders reporting around 25–35 kmpl depending on riding style and load. For buyers focused on running costs, expect 30 kmpl as a practical benchmark that yields reasonable fuel cost for touring and daily use but not the economy of smaller-displacement commuters.

Ex Showroom Price vs On Road Price
Ex-Showroom Price is the Manufacturing Cost of the vehicle + Dealer/Seller Profit + GST (Goods and Service Tax) + Transportation Charges (from the manufacturing plant to the dealership). On the other hand, the On-Road Price is the actual cost you pay to the dealership to make the vehicle legal to run on the roads. It includes Ex-Showroom Price in your city + RTO Charges (Vehicle Registration) + One Time Road Tax + Insurance Charges. The On-Road Price also includes some optional things like if you opt for Genuine Accessories and Extended Warranty while buying a vehicle. Please note that the On-Road Price varies a lot across different states in India due to different percentage for the State Registration Charges.

i have ride the bike yesterday (test drive) 01-01-2016 in domluru (bangalore) the bike is awesome features like front led (like eye rows), twin silencer, 27bhp power everything is good, but the rare seat is very uncomfortable, need to increase the rare seat space for the comfortable... if rare seat design changed little bit and if bikes give around 35km/liter than no doubt its the bike to go for sure...

Mahindra Mojo is equipped with inverted forks. So the heavier components are directly supported by the pivot and not the wheels. This leads to a sturdier suspension and stable yet responsive driving dynamics.......

Midhun Jayakumar13 years ago

according to the information below the engine of mojo is quite well and powerful but in case of looks...... its very poor and by the first look it gives nothing for 2 lakhs........ do any one say this is an italian design.... spolied there name...... the indian made pulsar looks far better than this..... the double headlight looks like an outdated biike..... dual exhaust is not worth attracting........ CBR 250R wich is 10000 rs less than this gives all the needs of a rider and thats a real sports bike..... this design was a utter failure
