Few hours back Yamaha launched R15S in Nepal with a great pomp and show. After some moments, company unveiled this sports bike in India as well. The new R15 S (Version 1.0) costs INR 500 more than the existing model. It has been offered in India at 1,14,741. According to Mr Roy Kurian, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, It is truly a sports bike which is specially designed for racing enthusiasts so that they can feel the passion and power that a sports vehicle has to offer. It is being available in 3 shades which include Spark Green, Track White and Adrenalin Red. Talking about its specifications, Yamaha YZF-R15S has been powered by a149.8 cc, Liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve engine which produces a power of 16.8 Bhp @ 8500 rpm and torque of 15 Nm @ 7500rpm. Its engine is mated to 6-speed manual gearbox. It has a bore of 57 mm and stroke of 58.7 mm. Both the front and rear ends support hydraulic, single disc brakes. In terms of suspension, it has telescopic at the front and linked type Monocross at the rear side. It offers a combined mileage of 35 kmpl where in cities it gives 30 kmpl and on highways it offers mileage of 40 kmpl. The dimensions of the bike are measured as 1995x670x1070mm (LxWxH) and it carries a kerb weight of 131 kg and dry weight of 120 kg. It has been loaded with a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres along with 1.0 litres oil tank capacity. Its ground clearance is 160mm, seat height is 790mm and wheelbase is 1290mm. It has alloy wheels where front measures 80/90-17 and rear tyre 130/70 R17. The instrument console includes digital speedometer, trip meter, odometer, clock, fuel gauge and analog tachometer.
