TVS recorded 5,91,437 two-wheeler dispatches in August 2026, ahead of Honda’s 5,79,162 and Hero MotoCorp’s 5,68,398 in the combined domestic-and-export comparison. The qualification matters: this is a lead in total two-wheeler dispatches, not proof that TVS sold the most two-wheelers to Indian retail customers during the month.

TVS, Honda and Hero: compare the same metric

ManufacturerAugust 2026 total two-wheeler dispatches
TVS5,91,437
Honda5,79,162
Hero MotoCorp5,68,398

On those totals, TVS finished 12,275 units ahead of Honda and 23,039 ahead of Hero. These gaps describe the reported month and category. They do not establish an annual ranking, a model-level sales winner or a retail market-share result.

Exports explain why the domestic picture differs

TVS’s two-wheeler total breaks down into 4,33,796 domestic units and 1,57,641 exports. Exports therefore contributed about 26.7% of the combined figure, calculated from the reported dispatch numbers.

Honda’s domestic figure was 5,17,329. Hero’s reported domestic combustion-engine volume of 5,16,747 plus 25,558 Vida electric units adds to 5,42,305. In that domestic comparison, both were above TVS. Calling TVS the domestic sales leader would therefore change the meaning of the data.

TVS’s own August performance

The company’s total two-wheeler volume rose around 21% from 4,90,788 in August 2025. Domestic two-wheelers grew 18%, while two-wheeler exports grew 29%. Its electric two-wheeler business reached 59,453 units, up from 25,138 a year earlier, a reported increase of 137%.

A second headline figure, 6,16,540 units, is TVS’s overall monthly total including three-wheelers. The three-wheeler contribution was 25,103. That larger company total should not be substituted into a two-wheeler-only comparison with Honda or Hero.

What these figures tell buyers and industry watchers

For industry watchers, the domestic/export split shows which parts of a manufacturer’s business contribute to the headline total. It is more informative than treating every vehicle counted in a company release as an Indian consumer purchase.

For a buyer, aggregate dispatch volume is background information. It does not measure an individual scooter’s comfort, a motorcycle’s reliability, local workshop quality or whether a chosen variant is available nearby. Those questions still require a model-specific comparison and a clear dealer delivery commitment.

Dispatches are different from registrations

Dispatch data tracks vehicles supplied into distribution channels; retail registrations measure a different stage of the sales process. Inventory can move between those stages over time. To assess Indian customer demand, compare retail data for the same month and vehicle category, with its coverage limitations stated, instead of relabelling wholesale totals.

The useful takeaway from TVS’s August 2026 two-wheeler sales is a combined dispatch lead supported by a substantial export contribution and growth in its electric business. Keep that metric intact when comparing the result with domestic demand or the following month’s performance.
