Skoda Octavia Onyx Edition will soon launch in India in the coming weeks. The recent teaser image confirms the same while dealerships have not started accepting bookings anywhere in the country. The car will get a limited run of just 200 units and those would carry cosmetic changes and same mechanical underpinnings as standard Octavia.
Skoda Octavia is currently sold in its Black Edition internationally while the Onyx Edition will not mock the same to the buyers. It will just get Black alloy wheels and Black ORVM's. The all-black interior treatment will be skipped for India. The same will just offer automatic transmission on both the petrol and diesel engines in the country.
Octavia Onyx will carry Bi-Xenon headlights, park assist, panoramic sunroof, 6.5 inch TFT and six airbags. Skoda will offer 1.8 liter petrol motor that is good for 180 PS and 250 Nm of torque. This engine gets 7-speed dual clutch gearbox as standard. The other motor is 2.0 liter diesel that is good for 143 PS and 320 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed DSG.
Skoda has already invested INR 60 Crore out of its INR 100 Crore investment plan in India. They have hinted that the rest of investment will go into dealership enhancement and an 'all new product'. Skoda Kodiaq, the full sized SUV is the next big launch from the carmaker. They will even work on the Octavia facelift and race spec vRS in the near future.
