Royal Enfield recently launched the 2017 Himalayan with 'Fuel Injection and 2-channel ABS' in UK for a starting price of £9,999 (INR 8.25 lakh approx.). The engine on the same is Euro4 compliant and emits much less than the Indian Himalayan with BS3 engine and carburetor fuel supply setup. The Indian version currently lacks the optional ABS also. Royal Enfield is expected to carry out the same changes to the Indian model by March 2017.
The 411 cc, long stroke engine on the Himalayan is good for 24.5 BHP and 32 Nm of torque. The power production is limited to low rpms and helps in taking all kinds of terrain with much ease. It comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox and performs really well on every kind of terrain. Royal Enfield has even launched couple of other products in UK, including the popular 2017 Continental GT with ABS and 2017 Classic 500 with ABS.

They are planning for a phased launched scheme for all of their products worldwide, starting with the developed markets and moving slowly into the developing nations. The next launch for the Himalayan and other fuel injected products will be witnessed in North America as these countries are stricter on emission norms than most of the Asian countries. Himalayan is a one of its kind product that serves as a full time off-roader in the RE lineup.
