The Honda Gienia (City Hatchback) was to unveil at the 2016 Chengdu Motor Show tomorrow but the leaked images of official brochure has already revealed the Honda City Hatchback. It was previewed @ the Auto China 2014 (2014 Beijing International Automobile Exhibition) as the Honda Concept B.
Essentially, the Honda Gienia is a hatchback version of the Honda Griez sedan which is a China-only iteration of the Honda City. So, the point is that basically, Honda Gienia is the Honda City hatchback. For now, the B-segment hatchback is expected to be China-only model only. But Honda might consider it for the Indian market at a later stage to compete with the likes of Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20 Elite.
The Honda Gienia measures 4,517 mm, 1,705 mm, and 1,477 mm in length, width and height respectively. It has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm and is 22 mm shorter in length than Griez. The Honda Gienia gets its power from the 1.5-litre petrol engine that can produce 129 HP and 155 NM of torque with a 5-speed manual transmission as a standard. The Honda Gienia would be manufactured by the Dongfeng-Honda joint venture for the Chinese market only. It is expected to be available for sale from 18 October in China.
