From the past few years, India has been witnessing a host of new Electric Vehicle (EV) startups considering that our country is one of the largest two-wheeler markets which is evenly expanding. One such promising startup is Gugu Energy, a Coimbatore based startup that has been founded by Guhan RP. The brand has officially unveiled their first electric vehicle by the name Gugu R-SUV, a crossover between a scooter and a motorcycle. The electric bike from Gugu is heavily inspired by the Honda X-ADV scooter.
The Gugu R-SUV will be available in the market in two different variants: a standard-range variant and a long-range variant with the latter being priced at INR 3 lakhs (approximately) while the former might be getting a price tag of around INR 1.25 lakhs (approximately). Mimicking the style language of an adventure motorcycle, the Gugu R-SUV features a beak style design at the front with a large windscreen to protect from the fast wind blasts when riding at high speeds.
One of the best features of this no-emission electric motorcycle is a 5-inch touchscreen console that offers a variety of details including the navigation, real-time traffic updates, battery indicators and more in addition to the standard features like odometer, speedometer, trip meter etc.
The customers can also download the Gugu Energy application on their mobile phones which will specifically make them aware of the nearby charging locations. The brand claims the Gugu R-SUV to be charged in just a duration of 45 minutes while the super quick charging can last quite long (160+ km). The dual-tone finish to the single seat saddle gives it a rugged look while the LED headlight and taillight add onto its appeal.
The 6 kWh liquid-cooled battery on the Gugu R-SUV promises a torque of 65 NM while it can cover a distance of 0-97 kmph in just a duration of 6 seconds. The electronically limited top speed claimed by the company is 100 kmph. As per the official website of the brand, the R-SUV electric motorcycle will launch by the end of this year while the pre-bookings are already open for the Indian market.
