Bajaj Avenger ABS has been spotted at a dealer yard ahead of its official launch next month. As expected, the cruiser motorcycle gets single-channel ABS on the front wheel like the Pulsar NS200 and RS200. It is also equipped with a rear wheel-mounted encoder ring for rear lift protection. Bajaj Avenger ABS is expected to get a price hike of around INR 10,000 as Avengers are already quite expensive in comparison to regular motorcycles. At present, the non-ABS model of Avenger 180 is available for INR 87,827 and the non-ABS Avenger 220 is available for INR 96,922. The prices mentioned here are ex-showroom Delhi.
Bajaj Avenger 220 is undoubtedly the most powerful cruiser at this price point as Suzuki Intruder comes with just a 155cc engine. The Indian government has made it mandatory for all motorcycles (125cc & above) to be equipped with 1-channel or 2-channel ABS by March 31, 2019.
Every manufacturer is working on ABS-equipped motorcycles and we are expecting a lot of launches next month as Yamaha is also preparing to launch the ABS models of R15 series and FZ series. In the 125cc+ segment, Bajaj Auto retails Pulsar 150, NS160, 180 and 220F in the sportbike, V15 in the commuter and Avenger series in the cruiser segment. The most powerful among all are the 200cc RS and NS series motorcycles with liquid cooling in both and fuel injection in the fully faired model.
