Why does BW have the 125's headlight design so funky?

Yamaha BW's 125 is famous for its distinctive dual circular headlight design, which makes it look very 'bug-eyed'. It's a quirky styling element that's been a hallmark of the BW's line for years, and it's also somewhat polarizing. The unconventional appearance is loved by some riders and disliked by others. There's debate, too, over whether this headlight setup actually functions better than a more traditional design. Now it’s time to have a chat about the pros and cons of the BW’s 125’s signature face, and whether it adds to or detracts from the entire scooter’s design.

I just wish they would offer a version with a more traditional headlight setup. Everything else about the scooter is nice, but I can’t stand the bug eyes aesthetically.

It’s a clever headlight design because it’s instantly recognizable. You either love it or hate it, but you always know when you're looking at a BW's.

I think people overthink it. It's a little quirky, but it's the charm of it. Not all bikes need to turn out like they just rolled off a sport bike production line.

Best part of the design is the headlights! This cool, almost robotic face they give the BW's 125 is the perfect face to go with its urban adventurer vibe.

I'm torn on it. I love that Yamaha went out on a limb, but I'm not sure it quite works. It’s unique, but perhaps not in the best way?

In fact, the dual headlight design is pretty functional. This helps you put more light on a wider spread so that you can spot obstacles at night or in low visibility conditions.

It's grown on me over time. I thought it was weird at first but now I like it as it ties into the rugged/adventure aesthetic of the scooter.

I honestly find it ridiculous. I’m not sure this design provides any real benefits over a standard headlight setup, and function should come before form.

I love the bug-eye look! The BW's has so much character and makes it stand out from all other boring scooters. It's become iconic for the model, plus.
