Which bike is better for Urban Adventures, the Yamaha BW’s 125 or the Honda ADV150?

The Yamaha BW's 125 and Honda ADV150 are both marketed as adventure style scooters intended for urban exploration and light off road use. Both have similar rugged styling cues and all terrain aspirations, but approach the concept a little differently. The 125cc motor was chosen for the BW's 125, which has a more compact design, and the ADV150 features more power and more features because of its 150cc motor. City commuters, weekend getaways and light trail riders often debate which one is better suited for commuting, weekend riding and light trail riding. In this article, we’ll compare these two popular ‘adventure scooters’ based on performance, practicality and overall fun factor for urban adventurers.

The BW's 125, I think, does a better job of capturing the urban adventure. The ADV150 feels like it’s trying too hard to be a ‘real’ adventure bike, while the ADV feels like a scrappy underdog punching above its own weight class.

Urban adventurers need storage space, and the ADV150 offers a lot more under seat storage. And that's big plus for day trips or grocery runs.

The BW's 125 was for pure fun factor. The result is playful and encourages you to explore urban nooks and crannies. The ADV150 is great, but it’s almost too serious sometimes.

The ADV150's bigger wheels and higher level of suspension superiority makes it a runaway when the pavement ends. If you’re going to do any real off road riding, it’s the better choice.

I like the quirkiness of the BW’s styling wise. To me, the ADV150 looks a little too much like a shrunken Africa Twin.

The BW's 125 is cheaper to buy and maintain, and has better fuel economy. It's the smarter choice for budget conscious riders.

I've ridden both, and the ADV150 has much more power to it. Highways are more comfortable and passing power in traffic is better.

You can’t beat the quality that Honda builds. Taller and chunkier, the ADV150 also feels more premium, something that gives you more confidence on longer rides or rough terrain.

The BW 125 is more nimble in tight city spaces and easier to maneuver. I think it has the edge over the bulkier ADV150 in terms of pure urban use.
