What will Afeela’s direct to consumer sales model do for it?
by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views8 comments
Afeela has said it will sell directly to consumers, avoiding traditional dealerships. This is an approach pioneered by Tesla in automotive where both the advantages and challenges lie. Potentially, direct sales can lower costs, give a more consistent brand experience, and afford a better sales process. But it needs big investment in online sales platforms, delivery logistics and service centers as well. Some states also have such laws prohibiting or limiting direct auto sales that could complicate Afeela's expansion plans. This model could also help other automakers and speed up the shift away from traditional dealership networks.

This could be their secret weapon. But if they can deliver a seamless, Apple like buying experience, they could differentiate themselves from traditional automakers.

It's risky. Established luxury brands with strong dealer networks are what they are up against. If they don’t have an amazing online platform to compete, they better have...

I like it. Buying a car from a dealership sucks. A lot of people will go with them if they can just make it as simple as ordering anything else online.

It's a double-edged sword. Without a physical presence they'll have to spend big on marketing to build brand awareness but they'll save money on dealerships.

I'm skeptical. They got away with it because they were first, and they had a cult following. Afeela doesn't have that luxury.

They could make it work, but they need to get the online experience right, and have a good plan for test drives and service. It’s not just about selling, it’s about supporting the product for the long haul.

Bad move. The valvè des usuaris of the dealerships is a service (test drive, immediate service, etc.) that are not available anywhere else. Turning off a lot of potential buyers, online only will do.

It's the future. They are outdated and just add unnecessary costs. Tesla made direct sales work, and Afeela will too.
