Some bikes are known to have failed stock rectifier/regulator. As a preventative measure, many owners end up swapping it out for a MOSFET unit.

Watch the cam chain tensioner. This isn't a common failure point, but when it does go, it can really do some damage.

Honestly, these are pretty bulletproof bikes. The vast majority of the issues are minor and easy to fix. Not like the problems you see with other brands.

Mine have had some electrical gremlins. Painful intermittant starting issues.

The stock seat is not a comfortable thing for long rides. Most owners wind up getting an aftermarket seat or having it rebuilt.

And I’ve heard some complains about fueling problems, mostly at low speeds. It's jerky in stop and go traffic, some people say.

The stock suspension is pretty underwhelming if you’re a heavier rider. Upgrading the internals of the shock and fork is a huge difference.

I've had mine for years with no big issues. As long as you keep up with regular maintenance, it’ll run forever.

The problem I've seen the most with is the stator. The whole assembly can be torn up because the magnets can come loose. That's definitely something to watch.
