The one downside is the dealer network. You won’t find it as extensive as Porsche or Mercedes so you may have to travel for services. The plus side is that it’s more personal.

In fact, depreciation curve is not that bad compared to some other exotics. Manuals in particular are starting to appreciate these cars. Try to find that with a modern Ferrari or Lambo.

No other conversation starter like this. Astons are something the people are curious about in a way they are not about other luxury brands. The car has given me great chats with strangers.

Some German rivals have better build quality. There are a few squeaks and rattles that would not be tolerated in a Merc. Yet, whenever I gaze upon it, I immediately pardon it.

I’ve had a 911 and a DB9, and the Aston just is more relaxing to drive. The 911 was always egging me on to go faster, the DB9 is happy to cruise. When you want it to be, it’s fast, but it doesn’t demand it.

I do miss the tech from my AMG. The infotainment of the DB9 is... classic. I didn’t buy it for the touchscreen, though. It more than makes up for it in the driving experience.

While the maintenance costs are actually not as bad as some other exotics. It’s not cheap, but compared to my friend’s Lamborghini, it’s a bargain. But then finding parts is easier than you would think.

The DB9 feels more special. I love Porsches, but they’re everywhere. Roll up in an Aston and heads turn. It's not the fastest or the most advanced, but it's got a presence that's difficult to beat.
