What are the most common problems with the Duke 790?

The KTM Duke 790 is loved for its performance and handling, but some owners have had problems with their bike. The problems can be anything from a minor annoyance to a serious mechanical failure. Knowing what common problems are can help potential buyers make an informed decision, and owners already owning a 7 Series can prepare themselves for any future issues. It’s also interesting to see how these issues compare to other bikes in the class and whether they are deal breakers or just part of the ownership experience. Others say the 790's problems are blown out of proportion, while still others argue they're just symptomatic of KTM's overall build quality and reliability.

The only problem I've found is on long rides, the seat comfort. All else has been solid.

At 10,000 miles I had to replace my fuel pump. A somewhat common issue, it seems.

In really hot weather the TFT display can act up. Annoying, but not a huge deal.

I've had mine bulletproof, but I've seen a few people have problems with leaking head gaskets.

The stock chain tensioner is prone to fail. It’s definitely worth upgrading to an aftermarket one.

The only thing I’ve heard about was some electrical gremlins, but nothing major. It’s mostly just little annoyances.

My biggest gripe is that parts are not available. If something breaks, it can take forever to get things.

Sometimes the quickshifter is finicky. When dialed in, it works great.

In 15,000 miles I've had zero problems with mine. It will treat you right if you keep up with maintenance.

The fuel sensor is garbage. But my mine always shows empty way too early.
