Was Maruti missing a trick by discontinuing the Celerio X?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views5 comments
Its latest Celerio X sought to grab the attention of younger buyers and those looking for a mini-SUV design in a compact package, which the standard Celerio did not fulfill. For example, it featured body cladding, roof rails and differently styled grille. But when Maruti launched the new generation Celerio in 2021, they chose to discontinue the Celerio X. Car fanatics are divided on whether Maruti took the right decision by exiting from what many believed to be a popular and appealing variant. It could have remained a draw for buyers looking for a more distinctive small car, some say, while others suggest its niche appeal might not have justified its place in the lineup.

I'm torn. The X looked cool but Maruti knows better about their market. Perhaps they have something like that planned for the future.

Missed opportunity for sure. They could have done the X concept for the new gen and made a proper mini crossover to take on the Tata Punch.

I get why they axed it, it's a shame they did though. Its sales were probably cannibalized by the regular Celerio. But I want them to have at least kept some of the design elements of the old gen.

No, I don’t think Maruti made a mistake. It probably didn't sell well enough to keep it around. You gotta kinda trim the fat sometimes.

Absolutely! The new gen Celerio X did lack the unique charm of the older gen. Perfect for young buyers who wanted something funky without paying through the nose.
