The pricing strategy of the BE 09 will help in positioning and also in sales of the product in India.

Pricing of the Mahindra BE 09 is the key to its success in the Indian market. The company’s first premium electric SUV, it is expected to be much more expensive than Mahindra’s usual fare but could undercut other imported luxury EVs. This makes it unique position, which may even carve out a new segment in the Indian automotive market. Debates continue to swirl around if Indian consumers are ready to pay a premium price for a Mahindra branded vehicle, irrespective of its features and capabilities. For some, competitive pricing could unsettle the luxury EV market, while others fear that if it’s priced too high, it won’t find buyers. The BE 09's competition pricing will also dictate whether the SUV will contend with premium ICE SUVs or other electric vehicles, or both. Furthermore, the BE 09's final price and market reception is discussed in relation to government incentives for EVs.

The real question is if they will have different variants. This let them cast a wide net and they could offer a bare bones base model, and a fully loaded flagship.

My fear is that they’re going to price it too high and it flops. People will expect a discount on an Indian brand and Mahindra needs to remember they're not BMW.

No matter what it costs, they have to get the value proposition right. It’s not just sticker price, but what you get for your money versus the competition.

They would fall just below the German EVs, sitting on the sweet spot. Let people brag about buying a fully loaded Indian car for less than the base model import.

I think they should do it the right way and price it as a true luxury vehicle. The problem is, if they try to be too affordable, it may cheapen the brand image they are trying to build.

Pricing is tricky. If it’s too high, people will simply buy the established luxury brands. It wouldn’t be too low, because then people would think it’s ‘cheap’ despite the tech.

It could be a game changer if they price it right. It undercut the foreign brands a bit to make people consider that Audi e tron.
