The MG Hector Plus is how future proof when it comes to technology and features?

With the automotive market changing rapidly, buyers are increasingly wary of a vehicle's technology features lasting. The MG Hector Plus comes with some exciting tech features, a large touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech and ADAS features in higher trims. But doubts remain regarding how these systems will hold up over time, and whether they will still be state of the art in years to come. There are owners that like the regular OTA updates, as they bring in new features, and others that fear the obsolescence. Points of discussion are the integration of smartphone connectivity, responsiveness of the infotainment system and effectiveness of driver assistance features. Given a vehicle that so heavily markets its tech credentials, it's important for potential buyers to understand how relevant its long term tech is in a fast changing tech environment.

The AI voice assistant is a hit or miss. The feature is cool, but could use some work to be really useful.

I like the large screen, but I don't know if that's the best long term solution for all car controls.

Now the smartphone integration works great, but I wonder how it will handle future phone OS updates.

I would really love the tech features, but I really want more actual buttons for the things we use all the time.

From time to time the infotainment system can be laggy. Hopefully performance will be improved in future updates.

The tech has held up well so far. It's more future proof than some other cars I test drove.

I think the cool connected car features are cool, but I’m worried about privacy and data security long term.

However, the ADAS features are nice, but they’re not as refined as a couple of European brands. I wonder how they will look in a few years.

I hope the touchscreen controls will not be obsolete in a few years. If the screen fails after a few years, what happens?

The OTA updates are great. It’s nice to see MG committed to keeping the tech fresh.
