Is the Toyota Celica a good car for a new driver?

Used Celicas draw many young drivers to the sporty looks and affordable price. There are pros and cons to consider, however. Based on Toyota's economy car platforms, the Celica is a decently reliable and fuel economy car. But, older models tend to need more maintenance because of their age. It’s responsive handling, which can be fun, but risky for the inexperienced driver. It’s not very practical compared to other options and interior space is limited. And insurance costs may be higher than for a normal economy car. For a new driver, the Celica would, in most cases, be a fun introduction to ownership but should not be automatically taken that way, and it requires serious consideration of maturity, budget, and needs.
