Is the Toyota Camry really boring like everyone says?

Toyota Camry has long been the poster child of boring cars – the car people default to when driving is not their passion. It's generally referred to as reliable but boring, practical but without character. For years Toyota has tried to make the Camry more appealing to enthusiasts, but the car has retained a reputation for this. But is this stereotype fair? Is the Camry finally the car that's evolved beyond its bland image, or is it still the go to for those who just want to get from point A to point B without any fuss? So we’ll take a look at whether the Camry lives up to its reputation as the poster child for automotive blandness, or if perhaps it’s time to rethink what we think about this popular sedan.

It's all relative. Yeah, it's boring compared to a Mustang or a BMW. Compared to other midsize sedans, though? As it happens, it's one of the better ones to drive.

The Camry is boring, people who say, haven't driven a recent model. The handling has improved a lot, and the V6 versions are actually pretty quick.

Cars are like the vanilla ice cream of the Camry. It’s not exciting, but it’s reliable and will do the job. That’s all you sometimes need.

I’ve always thought Camrys were boring until I rented one on a trip and was shocked at how nice it was to drive. Not a Porsche, but far from dull.

It all depends on what you’re after. The Camry is great, if you want a comfy, reliable daily driver. Not all cars have to be sports cars.

Nah, it's still boring. Yes, it’s reliable, but so are a lot of cars these days. No matter how many sporty trims they add, there’s nothing exciting about driving a Camry.

I truly believe the boring tag is a thing of the past. In fact, the new Camrys, and especially the TRD version, are actually pretty fun to drive. Now they've got decent power and handling.
