Is the Kia EV9 as good as other EVs?

With the increasing popularity of electric vehicles, reliability has become a major issue for would be buyers. As a relatively new model on the EV market, the Kia EV9 will naturally draw questions about its long term dependability. Unlike the traditional gas powered machines, the EV has different components, including the battery system, the ability to source and ot the car’s engine, and the complex electronics, that can affect the reliability of the machine. As with most new EV models, early adopters will have to deal with teething problems and there have been reports of issues with some Kia EV9 units specifically to do with the 12V battery system. Because this is the case, it leads to a larger conversation about the overall reliability of the EV9 against other more established electric vehicles from other manufacturers. That means looking at the frequency and severity of reports of problems, examining Kia's history with prior EVs, checking how they handled it, and knowing how well some of the key components, such as the battery pack, hold up over time. That being said, potential buyers, particularly those who might be looking to buy an EV for the first time, or as a primary family vehicle, need to know about the EV9's reliability.

It's a new model and I was worried about reliability, but so far so good. It feels really well put together, and no issues at all. I think Kia's put some serious work into this one.

The EV9 feels more solidly built than my previous Tesla. The software is definitely less reliable, though. It's a bit of a mixed bag right now, I think it'll improve over time.

Kia has been pretty good about taking care of problems when they come up and it's too early to tell about long term reliability. The 12V battery problem was worrying, but it looks like they've fixed it with a software update.

I’ve had my EV9 for 6 months now and I love it but I’ve already had to take it to the dealer twice for software issues. It's not a deal breaker, but it's a lot more problems than I thought I'd have in a brand new car.

My EV9 has been rock solid so far. No issues whatsoever. I think a lot of the reliability concerns are overblown, probably from those who are skeptical of EVs in general.
