Is the Himalayan 411 a proper long highway ride bike?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views7 comments
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 is touted as an adventure motorcycle that is just as comfortable on the dirt as on the road. But its relatively small engine displacement and modest power output have caused some riders to wonder if it's up to the task of long distance highway travel. The debate around this bike is about whether it's comfortable, stable and performs at higher speeds over longer distances. It also covers the expectations riders have of adventure motorcycles, and if the ability to cruise comfortably at highway speeds is a requirement of this type of bike. The question is whether the Himalayan 411 finds the right balance between off road capability and highway performance for most adventure riders.

It’s great for mixed riding, I think. It’s good for highways when needed, but it really shines on backroads and trails.

Highway suitable? Maybe in India. It's out of its depth on US interstates, though. For serious touring here, you need at least a 650cc.

It's suitable enough. It's not ideal but it can do it. It’s got decent wind protection and the seat is comfy for long hauls.

Mine have done 500 mile days with no problems. It's all about mindset. Slow down, enjoy the journey, and it’s perfect.

That’s a matter of expectation. It's great if you're okay with a relaxed pace. It’ll blast past traffic if that’s what you want, but if not, look elsewhere.

No way. However, it’s too underpowered for comfortable highway riding. It's perpetually being wrung by your neck to stay with traffic.

If you’re not in a hurry, it’s fine for highways. It’s not a speed demon, but it’s comfortable and can cruise at 65-70 mph all day.
