Is the Continental GT 650 a reliable motorcycle for Daily use?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views7 comments
Any motorcycle, and especially a motorcycle used as a daily rider, must be reliable. Royal Enfield has taken a massive step up in quality and engineering with the Continental GT 650, but there are still some who are hesitant to buy because of the brand’s past reputation. These include how often and how much regular maintenance costs, how often unexpected breakdowns occur and the life of the clutch, brakes, and electrical system. In addition, reliability encompasses the bike’s performance in varying weather conditions, as well as its ability to start reliably and time and again, even following extended periods of sitting. The availability of spare parts and quality of dealer support are two important factors that determine the ownership experience and also the bike’s reliability perception.

It's generally reliable, but you’re at the mercy of quality control. I had more issues than my friend whose bike was from the same batch.

The only thing that's annoying is how much the chain needs to be adjusted. It seems to need it more often than my Japanese bikes.

I had some problems with the clutch cable stretching out but that is a simple fix. Otherwise it's been bulletproof.

I have used mine everyday and it has been great. If you just keep up with the maintenance schedule, it’ll treat you well.

A hell of a lot more reliable than my old Bullet. The 650 twin is a well engineered engine and this shows in daily use.

It’s worked out pretty well for me, but I had some electrical gremlins early on. It was dealer sorted under warranty though.

I have put 30,000km on mine in 2 years, with zero issues. They just need regular oil changes and chain maintenance.
