Is simplicity always a bad thing or can the Maruti Tour V (O)’s lack of modern features be a deal breaker?

However, the Maruti Tour V (O) has garnered a reputation for being no frills with many features found in modern cars that are now considered standard. Items like touchscreen infotainment systems, automatic climate control and advanced driver assistance systems are part of it. This simplicity keeps the cost down, and potentially improves long term reliability, but it also makes the car feel dated compared to its contemporaries. It leads to a discussion on how much simplicity is worth in car design. Others contend that the absence of complex electronics makes the Tour V (O) more rugged and easier to repair in parts of the world that have few service facilities. Some say that the deprivation of modern features is what prevents the Tour V (O) from being competitive, although others insist that safety and convenience demands their existence. This question also ties into the issue of feature creep in modern cars and if the ever increasing complexity of cars is always good for the end user.

While it is okay that there aren't features right now, in a few years it will make the car feel very dated. At least, Maruti should offer some modern features as options.

I actually prefer the simple approach because I’m not tech savvy. You don't need to read a manual to change the radio station or adjust the AC.

Granted I do like the durability argument, but safety features shouldn’t be considered frills. ABS and airbags are not luxuries, but rather things like that you need.

In a world of over complicated cars, the Tour V (O)'s simplicity is refreshing. It’s a like a Nokia 3310 of cars, it does the basics really well, without any fuss.

It's a matter of use case, I think. In the case of a taxi or a fleet vehicle, it makes sense. Most people, however, expect at least some modern conveniences for a personal car.

The lack of features is no way a deal breaker. Even in budget cars, basic things like a decent infotainment system and rear parking sensors are now must haves.

I am actually a big fan of the simplicity. There is less stuff to go wrong, it's easier to maintain, and cheaper to repair. A rolling smartphone isn’t for everyone or everyone.
