Is it worth worrying about reliability on the KTM Duke 890?

The KTM Duke 890 has become a well-known, incredibly fun, and capable middleweight naked bike with impressive performance and handling. However, several reports have emerged about reliability issues like oil leaks, electrical problems, and worse, engine failure. Others swear by the thrill of the ride, while others say steer clear of the bike because of those concerns. This has caused a big debate in the motorcycle community about whether the performance and character of the Duke 890 outweigh its possible reliability issues. Riders are left wondering whether to leap into this exciting machine or take the safer route with another manufacturer’s machine.

I was on the fence but jumped. So far, no regrets—this bike makes me smile every single ride. If you live in an older home, just budget for potential repairs, just in case.

It's all about perspective. You might have more issues than a Japanese bike, but the ride is totally another level. I think it’s worth the trade-off for me.

I really believe that the reliability issue is blown out of proportion. Most appear to be from early production runs. The newer models have solved a lot of those problems.

It depends on what you expect. But if you want a bike as reliable as a hammer, look elsewhere. If you can live with a bit of character (and maybe some quirks), the 890 is hard to beat for sheer fun.

It's a toss-up. I've had mine rock solid, but I know others who've had issues. If you’re willing to risk it for the incredible riding experience, then go for it. Just get a good warranty.

No way, man. Mine were nothing but problems. It spent more time at the dealer than on the road. Go Japanese and save yourself the headache.

Absolutely worth it! I've had my 890 over a year now with zero issues, and it's been a blast. It's unreal how it handles and how addictive the power delivery is. You just have to stay on top of the maintenance.
