Is it a future collector's item the Classic 500 Chrome Edition?

As Royal Enfield moves on from the 500cc engine, and onto their new 350cc and 650cc platforms, there is a lot of talk about whether or not the Classic 500 Chrome Edition will become a collectible in the future. It's one of the last models to have the iconic 500cc engine and thus the end of an era for the brand. Their limited production numbers and distinctive chrome finish makes them potentially a nice collector's piece. But the Classic 500 has been in production for a relatively long time and was sold in high numbers too, which runs against its desirability in terms of rarity. There is also debate about whether this chrome edition will hold up aesthetically better than the more traditional painted models. However, some enthusiasts argue that, as electric motorcycles become more popular, any well maintained classic petrol bike will become collectible. Others point out that generally speaking, only very special editions or historically significant motorcycles appear to go up in value.
