How will the Futuro-e’s infotainment system stack up against tech heavy competitors?
by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views7 comments
The Maruti Futuro-e concept was a futuristic interior based upon advanced infotainment features. It is a big step for Maruti, a brand not usually associated with cutting edge in car technology. The move begs the question of how Maruti will compete with tech savvy rivals, who have already made a name for themselves in this space. These include the user interface design, the capability of smartphone integration, and over the air update potential as well as AI driven features. Then there’s the question of whether Maruti will go the proprietary route of developing its own system or tie up with tech giants such as Google or Apple. The difficulty is in making an advanced system that will impress tech enthusiasts, yet be easy enough for Maruti's varied customer base. There are also concerns about how such a system would be supported and updated long term in such a system, particularly given Maruti's large service network that would need to be trained to support these new technologies.

What if they surprise all of us by bringing out some innovative features which we haven’t seen before? After all, it’s a concept car.

I hope they don't overdo their touchscreens. Sometimes physical buttons are better, like when you’re driving.

The real test will be how intuitive it is. Simplicity is Maruti’s strength, so if they can make advanced tech easy to use, that’s a win.

I don’t need all the fancy bells and whistles, as long as it has good smartphone integration.

I care more about long term support. Will the software stay updated or will it be outdated very soon?

Don't underestimate them. If they find the right tech company to partner with, they could make a massive leap.

We are being honest here, the infotainment has always been basic for Maruti. They have no way to compete with the likes of Tesla or even MG.
