How reliable is the SP125's digital instrument cluster in the long run?

by geeta kumariover 1 year ago0 views8 comments
The Honda SP125 comes equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster, which is quite a standout feature in its segment. It displays a wealth of information, including real-time mileage, average mileage, distance to empty, service due indicator, gear position indicator, and an eco indicator. While this modern touch is appealing, some riders have expressed concerns about its long-term reliability. Digital clusters can sometimes be prone to glitches or failures, especially in harsh weather conditions or after prolonged exposure to sunlight and rain. How has the SP125's digital cluster held up for long-term owners? Are there common issues that crop up over time? Let's hear from riders who've put significant miles on their SP125s about their experiences with this feature.

No issues with mine, but I always use a bike cover to protect it from the elements when parked outside. Probably helps with longevity.

I've heard of a few cases where the cluster died completely after 2-3 years. Honda should offer a longer warranty on this component.

The gear position indicator on mine stopped working after about a year. Everything else is fine, though. Not a big deal, but a bit annoying.

I actually prefer this digital cluster over analog ones. It's easy to read and gives so much useful info. Haven't had any reliability issues in 1.5 years of ownership.

No problems with mine after 25,000 km. I think as long as you're careful not to expose it to direct water spray while washing, it holds up well.

The cluster is great when it works, but it's definitely more prone to issues than a simple analog setup. I've had mine freeze up a couple of times in heavy rain.

Mine started acting up after about 18 months. The fuel gauge became unreliable, and sometimes the whole display would flicker. Had to get it replaced under warranty.

I've had my SP125 for over 2 years now, and the digital cluster is still working perfectly. No glitches or issues whatsoever.
