How long can I depend on the Altroz CNG for?

When you are dealing with a CNG variant, reliability is a very important factor since any vehicle has to be reliable. Since the Tata Altroz CNG is a new entrant into the market, it doesn’t have a long history to rely on. The worry about durability of the CNG kit, the frequency of maintenance required and the longevity of the vehicle is often felt by potential buyers. The issue, however, is that the engine tends to break down at a faster rate when it is switched between petrol and CNG modes often. Moreover, some owners have been unhappy with Tata's after sales service. Can the Altroz CNG be relied upon in the longer term? Is there anything about extended use that others have mentioned that’s a common problem with the soap? We will take a look at what current owners have to say about the Altroz CNG and what the experts have to say about its reliability quotient.

The engine design in Altroz CNG is quite solid, my mechanic friend says. He believes it will last well over time, but of course proper maintenance is important.

So long as you’re sticking to the maintenance schedule I think it’ll be fine. But servicing is required more frequently in CNG cars, but so is for any brand other than Tata.

I've heard it's a hit or miss. There are some owners that swear by it and others that have had niggling issues. However, Maruti has a better build of service network compared to Tata, which is a worry in case your ownership is for long term.

Honestly, it’s too early to tell. Tata has got better, but they still have a question mark over their long term reliability. I would wait a couple more years to see how the first batch of Altroz CNGs fare.

I have had my Altroz CNG for over a year now and it’s been pretty reliable. So far so good, just regular maintenance. The CNG kit looks very well integrated.
