How good has the Astor been with unexpected repairs or whatnots?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views7 comments
Any car buyer will be concerned about the reliability of their car, but the concern is even higher for relatively new brands such as MG in the Indian market. As a newer model, the Astor doesn’t have the same long term reliability data of some of its competitors. As a result, there’s been a lot of talking amongst owners and potential buyers as to how the car holds up over time. Some users have reported trouble free experiences, while others have experienced everything from minor electrical niggles to more serious mechanical issues. The debate often continues on the quality of MG's after sales service and if they will be able to effect repairs promptly and effectively. But there's also the question of parts availability, which could make the ownership experience a lot more painful if something does go wrong. For some, the Astor is a balance between features at the cutting edge and the unknowns of a new brand's long term reliability.

As a Japanese car enthusiast, I was dubious about the reliability of the Astor. So far, though, it's as reliable as my old Honda. With no unexpected repairs, just routine maintenance.

I've been using mine for over 2 years now and it's been generally good, but a few niggling issues. Nothing big, but small things such as sensors going haywire or the start stop system being temperamental.

The MG service center has been frustrating and the car itself has been good, reliable. But they aren't always equipped to deal with issues quickly, which can be a pain.

When I bought it I was worried about reliability, but my Astor has been surprisingly trouble free. It feels to be built well and I have not had any unexpected repairs in 25,000 km.

But I've had a minor issues here and there, but it's been mostly reliable. A weird rattle from the dashboard finally got fixed after two visits, and they kept having to fix this infotainment system they go on about, which required some sort of software update. Nothing major, though.

It hasn’t been positive for me. I’ve had a faulty AC compressor and a few electrical gremlins to deal with. So MG fixed everything under warranty but it was still a hassle.

I've had my Astor now for 18 months and it's been rock solid. No unexpected issues at all. Everything's been running smooth, and we've been running regular services.
