How does the KTM 125 Adventure stack up against other learner-friendly adventure bikes?

by geeta kumariover 1 year ago0 views7 comments
A number of manufacturers have introduced small displacement models into the learner motorcycle market, and the adventure-styled segment has become extremely popular. This is the space that the KTM 125 Adventure enters, going head to head with the likes of the Honda CB125X and Yamaha XTZ125. Both models are highly debated by prospective riders on their merits of build quality, off-road ability, and brand reliability. Given its premium positioning, the KTM’s performance and premium features make one wonder whether you pay more for them than rivals. Finally, this comparison is a part of the bigger conversation about what true dual-sport 125cc bikes are and whether or not the adventure-styled 125cc bike on the market today can actually do what they claim or simply serve as an urban bike with some light off-road use.

At this level it’s all about which bike makes you smile when you look at it; let’s be real. For me, that contest is a KTM hands down.

I have ridden the KTM and Yamaha XTZ125 and would say the KTM feels more refined than the Yamaha. The Yamaha is a tank, however, and probably preferable to ham-fisted beginners.

Of course, the KTM has the cool factor, but for learning, I would go cheaper. If you’re going to drop it, might as well not cry over expensive plastics.

In my opinion, none of these 125 “adventure” bikes is really for proper off-roading. They're styled tough, but they're not really. I might as well get a regular 125 and save myself the cash.

There's that "Ready to Race" DNA in KTM even in their 125. I think it feels more premium, more aggressive than other learner ADV bikes I've tried.

In all honesty, I think it's too expensive for what it is. For a new rider, you can get a Honda CB125X for way less, and it’s just as capable.

There’s just no KTM 125 Adventure. Yes, it’s a bit more expensive, but you get that sweet WP suspension and better off-road chops than almost any competitors.
