How does Amo Jaunty perform in wet weather?

by Sukhmandeep Kaurover 1 year ago0 views7 comments
Riding in the rain is a reality of using a scooter as your main form of transportation in many climates. As the Amo Jaunty is an electric vehicle, wet weather performance may look different from typical gas scooters. How well does it drive on slick roads? Does the electrical system receive enough protection from water ingress? How much does rain affect the battery range or charging? Do riders have to be vigilant in wet riding conditions when using the Jaunty? Now let’s look at the real world experiences of the Jaunty owners who have braved the elements and how this e scooter stands up as an all weather commuting option.

It is not perfect, but it is decent. I had some display glitching after a particularly heavy rainstorm. It just worked itself out, but taught me to be more careful when riding in bad weather.

The Jaunty is actually better in the rain than my old gas scooter. You don’t have to worry about a wet spark plug or flooded engine. Just hop on and go. The great electric motor instant torque is great for smooth starts on wet roads.

It’s really noticeable in the wet, because there’s no ABS. Braking, you have to be extra careful with. I hope future models have this safety feature added by Amo.

I’ve noticed a huge drop in range when riding in cold, wet weather. It appears that the battery drains much faster. It’s not a deal breaker, but something to be aware of if you’re commuting in rainy climates.

In wet conditions, the Jaunty handles surprisingly well. It also gives us stability, due to the low center of gravity. The only thing I am genuinely missing here is a super bright headlight for better visibility in the rain.

I’m honest, I don’t like to ride in heavy rain. I'm nervous on slippery roads with the small wheels of the Jaunty and concerned about water damaging the battery. I use alternative transport in downpours, but it’s fine for light drizzle.

I’ve ridden my Jaunty in light rain without problems. The tires grip well enough, but I definitely don't take it quite as fast. It’s all well sealed, but I always wipe it down after a wet ride just to be sure.
