Does the XUV700's thirstiness justify its performance?

The diesel variant of the XUV700 is famous for its strong performance. Fuel efficiency is hurt, however, especially in city driving. Fuel consumption figures have been widely reported by owners, with some getting decent efficiency on the highways and struggling to get good mileage in urban traffic.
