Does the Bajaj Chetak 3501's 'retro modern' design hit the spot or does it miss the point?

The Chetak 3501 design is bold from Bajaj, taking the retro aesthetics and combining them with modern EV technology. The design philosophy is to target both the nostalgic riders who remember the original Chetak as well as the younger consumers who are looking for a stylish eco friendly ride. But it’s this fusion of old and new that has sparked debate among those who may be interested in buying or who are scooter enthusiasts. While some like the nod to Bajaj’s heritage, some feel it might be holding back their potential to create a more futuristic design. Much of the discussion focuses on whether or not this retro modern approach does, in fact, bridge generations, or if it instead is a compromise that doesn’t satisfy traditionalists or tech forward riders. This design decision has an impact on the scooter’s aesthetics, market positioning and target demographic.

It's growing on me. I was not sure at first, but now I like its distinction from other generic looking EVs.

The ride matters, the design is fine. In that department, it delivers, even if not for looks.

I'm torn. I love the retro touches but it can sometimes feel like it’s trying too hard. A bit gimmicky maybe?

It's genius marketing. It attracts the older folks who remember the original Chetak and the younger ones who love retro vibe.

Retro look works, but I wish they'd modernized it a bit. Stuck between two worlds.

I think that's a missed opportunity. They could have gone full futuristic and stood out in the EV crowd.

Love it! It’s a perfect mix of nostalgia and modern tech and it turns heads everywhere I go.
