Can MMHd bang global names with it’s Bolero MaXX Pik-Up in terms of quality and reliability?

Being an Indian automaker, Mahindra has to contend with the perception that its cars don’t quite make the cut when compared to the more established global automakers, in terms of perceived quality and reliability. As a utilitarian vehicle, the Bolero MaXX Pik-Up is a no frills vehicle aimed for functionality and durability. It also begs the question of how it compares to other offerings by international manufacturers. Others say that the company’s experience in manufacturing vehicles for rugged Indian conditions provides an edge in reliability for real world use. Just as other argue there can be higher overall quality when global brands have more resources to invest in research and development. It also extends to the question of long term reliability and availability of spare parts, both important issues for commercial users. And then there is the query over whether the lower price point of the Bolero MaXX Pik-Up justifies any potentially answerable shortcomings on refinement or build quality versus more expensive global competition.

It's hard to beat the price. The value proposition can’t be matched by global brands.

There's the real test—long term reliability. Ask me again in 5 years!

My friend imported a pickup and I have had fewer issues with my Bolero than he has had with his pickup.

It depends on what you mean by quality. It's not glamorous, but it's rugged.

But it’s not nearly as refined, nor is it built like a tank. That counts for a lot.

Mahindra is actually pretty solid. They know how to build for hard conditions.

Global brands have way more resources for R&D and quality control, there’s no way.
