But will Apollo IE have any meaningful impact on hypercar design?

It's beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Apollo IE's styling is far from normal, and that you can see that it is exactly approaches hypercar status with its emphasis on aerodynamics. But its aggressive design language with many sharp angles, massive wing and intricate detailing takes road car design to the edge of beyond acceptability. But this begs the question: Will the IE’s approach impact future hypercar designs, or will it be simply regarded as a brief, extreme experiment? Beyond its application, the topic of the debate on its impact reaches not only, but also the general trends of automotive design, the balance of aesthetics versus aerodynamics, and the search for uniqueness in the upper price range of the car market. Meanwhile, it raises the question of whether designs this radical can affect trickle down to drive more mainstream performance cars, or whether they’ll stay confined to the ultra exclusive realm of hypercars.

It does have an effect, though that will not be a positive one. But it may lead designs to do the complex unnecessarily.

I can't see how the IE will have a widespread impact: its purpose is so specific they'd have to design the machine around it here.

But it may be its enduring influence that owes more to the use of materials and the application of construction techniques than to the styling itself.

Instead, the IE is more likely to be remembered as a design dead end, rather than as a pioneer.

I think its influence is going to be subtle. On future performance cars we might see some more intricate aero details.

It's already having an impact. Go on to see just how extreme some of the newer hypercars are getting with their aero.

Rather it will influence bold design choices rather than copies of specific style.

I can't see that it's going to have much of an impact at all on mainstream design, but it might — it could influence something that can go into track-focused cars.

I doubt it. It’s just too extreme for most tastes. It's not going to be a trend, I can tell you that. There will have been dust blown in someone's eye; that's all. It will be remembered as a curiosity.

Definitely. It’s the most aero you can do with a road legal car. Other manufacturers will take note.
