Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

The Tata Tigor EV car is an electric vehicle that is good for the environment because it doesn't use gasoline. It is easy to charge and has lower maintenance costs than regular cars. It might not be suitable for long road trips due to its limited range. If you are looking for a green and cost-effective city car then the Tigor EV is a good option.

Recent news and announcements

The Tata Tigor EV has undergone significant refinement since its initial launch in 2021, and I find it to be a compelling entry-level electric sedan for the Indian market. As of now, the vehicle receives pricing starting from Rs 12.49 lakh ex-showroom, making it exceptionally accessible for those considering their first electric purchase. The most recent update came in January 2025 with another facelift, continuing Tata's commitment to keeping the model fresh and competitive. The powertrain remains consistent with a 26kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery paired with a permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 75 horsepower and 170 Newton-meters of torque. The claimed ARAI-certified range stands at 315 kilometers per charge, though real-world performance typically yields between 130-150 kilometers depending on driving conditions. Fast charging capabilities allow the battery to reach 80 percent charge in approximately 59 minutes using a DC charger, while a standard AC charger requires about 9 hours and 24 minutes for a full charge. The sedan accommodates five passengers across four variants, and with no direct competitors in this price segment, it maintains a unique position in India's burgeoning EV landscape.

The Tata Tigor EV continues to stand out as India's most affordable electric sedan offering, and I find it represents a significant step forward in democratizing EV ownership in the country. The model maintains its 26kWh battery pack with a 315km range on a single charge, which remains practical for daily commuting across Indian cities. What strikes me is the consistent performance delivery with 75 horsepower and 170Nm of torque, providing adequate acceleration for urban and highway driving conditions. The charging flexibility is noteworthy - it offers multiple options including 3.3kW AC charging at home taking around 7.5 hours, and DC fast charging that reaches 10-80% in approximately 59 minutes, making it convenient for Indian buyers with varying charging infrastructure access. Available across four variants ranging from XE to XZ Plus Lux, the Tigor EV pricing spans from 12.49 lakh to 13.75 lakh ex-showroom, with on-road prices varying by location. The sedan design accommodates five occupants comfortably with 316 litres of boot space, while features like the 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity align well with modern Indian buyer expectations. Its single-speed automatic transmission and regenerative braking system with four levels demonstrate thoughtful engineering for Indian road conditions.

I've been tracking the Tata Tigor EV closely in the Indian market, and as of early 2026, it remains a solid choice for urban commuters seeking an affordable electric sedan. Priced from ₹12.49 lakh ex-showroom for the base XE variant up to ₹13.75 lakh for the top XZ Plus LUX, it offers four trims all powered by a 26kWh lithium-ion battery paired with a single front-wheel-drive permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 75PS and 170Nm torque. The ARAI-certified range stands at 315km, with real-world figures likely around 250-280km depending on conditions, and charging takes about 7.5 hours on a 3.3kW AC charger or 59 minutes to 80% on a 25kW DC fast charger. Measuring 3993mm long with a 2450mm wheelbase, 172mm ground clearance, and 316-litre boot, it seats five comfortably while maintaining sedan agility. Safety includes dual front airbags across variants, with higher trims adding features like a touchscreen, cruise control, and IP67-rated battery protection. Note the recent Delhi policy shift ending free EV registration, bumping on-road prices by about 10%, but it's still competitively positioned against the Tiago EV in Tata's lineup, making it ideal for city drives with low running costs under ₹1.5 per km.

I've been tracking the Tata Tigor EV closely in India, and its latest 2025 facelift keeps it as a compelling electric sedan option starting at Rs 12.49 lakh ex-showroom for the XE variant, climbing to Rs 13.75 lakh for the top XZ+ Lux. Powered by a 26kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery paired with a permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 75PS and 170Nm, it offers a certified 315km range, hitting 0-60kmph in 5.7 seconds with front-wheel drive and a top speed of 120kmph. Fast charging from 10-80% takes just 59 minutes via 18kW DC, while AC at 3.3kW needs about 9.4 hours, and it includes four-level regenerative braking for efficiency. Across all four variants—XE, XT, XZ+, and XZ+ Lux—you get a spacious 316-litre boot, 5-seater comfort, and safety perks like hill descent control, though cruise control is absent in base trims. Higher specs add a 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, projector headlamps, and leatherette seats, making it the safest electric sedan per Tata's claims. Real-world range hovers around 250-280km in mixed Indian conditions, with low running costs ideal for city commutes in Delhi, Mumbai, or beyond.
February 17, 2026
Tata Motors aims to solidify its position as a leader in India’s EV market with the updated Tigor EV, which caters to the needs of urban commuters by offering affordability, advanced features, and reliable performance. This aligns with Tatas broader goal of achieving net zero GHG emissions by 2040.

Tata Tigor EV: A Compact Electric with Real World Practicality

Let’s talk electric. I understand that there Is a little voice in my head still hanging on and wondering, will an electric car even fit my life? I would go to say that the Tata Tigor EV doesn’t just answer that it flaunts and comforts . Types of Vapes aren’t about trying too hard, it is about getting you from point A to B with smooth and eco friendly vibes that we are all trying to become accustomed to. At a time when someone like me who wants to quickly dive into the electric world without all the fuss, the Tigor EV seems to tick almost all the boxes.

...Design That ‘Says’ Look At Me…Other Design Way To Lose The Perception Gap. But Only If You Want To”

You didn’t buy the Tigor EV for it to scream for attention. It is not one of those over the top “I am different” design cars. Instead it has sleek lines and a clean look that's just naturally on the appealing side like your cool friend who always doesn't try to look good. Those subtle blue accents, and They are a to its electric personality and yet in a laid back way that says, I don’t find anything cool about your presence … I’ll be completely nonchalant either way. That little detail is pretty refreshing, who doesn’t love a car that knows how to stand out without shouting?

Performance: Not Zippy and Quiet, but No Speed Demon

Right away, one thing that hit me was just how quiet the Tigor EV is. It is like a bubble of calm where city noise is a far away mile. Now, let’s be real However, the instant torque of its electric motor means it is not going to win you any drag races, but it does have that perfect city zip. Tata certainly appears to have given this one a lot of consideration. This is the Tigor EV they have made for how most of us actually drive  with steady everyday trips where you just want things to be economical without being so crazy.

Range: Say Goodbye to Range Anxiety

Let’s talk range anxiety. It’s real and I know that one of the first questions people have of about electric cars is 'How do you charge them?' Tata’s made the Tigor EV equipped with a fairly juicy range. It’ll get us around 300km on a full charge which for me is more than enough to go on town and some longer trips. If you are thinking ‘But what if I need a quick top up? Tata’s got that covered, too. The Tigor EV will be quick chargers where you can have your coffee on your way back with enough charging to go forward. It is practical and reliable, which is what I want out of an EV.

Inside the Cabin: Just the Right Tech, in a Space for Relaxed Driving

Once inside, the Tigor EV feels like a combination of comfortable and no frills the car is compact but not cramped. The layout means distraction is kept to a minimum the headroom and legroom provide plenty of space to be comfortable. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are like an afterthought as you can sync that Harman sound system and it works like a charm. It is even helped make those ‘stuck in traffic’ playlists not so bad. I have to say I do appreciate Tata who really have created a space where it is all about the drive and the gadgets are far second.

They Keep You Covered, These Safety Features

They weren’t an add on for me they were necessary. Tata seems to get that, too. Inside the Tigor EV you’ll find dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and corner stability control, ensuring you won’t have to worry too much when you’re in the city or on the highway. It’s a backup plan that’s working in the background, always there to fall back on. Especially in today’s world, I want a built in security feature when you’re driving, and this kind of security piece just like this is exactly what I want.

Charging Up: Home, Work, and On-the-Go, Convenient Options.

Driving the Tigor EV is as simple as driving your phone. Plug it at home, at work, or attempt to stop by a fast charger if you are on the move. Life made simple, Tata has thought about the people who’ll drive this car. You have all that you need to start your day if you can plug it in overnight. But Tata’s expanding network of fast chargers means it is never been easier to grab a quick boost on the go. If you are concerned about how you are supposed to charge there's that not the worst thing.

My Final Take: Practical, Easy Going, and Ready for Everyday Life

Is the Tata Tigor EV worth it then? I would say absolutely. It is not trying to reinvent the wheel, it is just trying to make electric driving part of your daily routine in a compact electric. The Tigor EV is the perfect entry point into the world of electric cars if it is vehicle independence you’re seeking, the everyday convenience and practicality of a conventional car, and without compromising, then the Tigor EV is for you. It is simple to drive eco friendly and has a range to get through most of our needs. As someone who likes to keep things simple, it is a car that says let’s keep things simple in a world of complicated choices.
