The Tata Harrier is a five-seater SUV that launched in the Indian market in January 2019. It sits between the subcompact Tata Nexon and the mid-size Tata Safari in the company’s car portfolio. The manufacturer introduced the car with new design philosophy, and it became the most popular C-segment SUV in the country in such a short time. Just after one year of its debut, Tata presented the facelift model of the Harrier in 2020 and loaded it with some sophisticated features to add to its premium feel. Tata Harrier Design
It comes with R17 two-tone diamond-cut alloys. Xenon HID Projector headlamps. 3D LED Tail Lamps with sporty piano black finish. A dashboard with an Oak brown colour scheme with an anti-reflective ‘Nappa’ top layer. Premium Benecke-Kaliko perforated leather seat upholstery & door pad inserts. The steering wheel comes with a grained leather finish, the gear knob is wrapped in premium leather as well. It also has an aero throttle styled hand brake. No idea how pleasing you might find the shark fin antenna on top. With additional features such as Global Close, Anti-Pinch and Rain Sensing Closure. The new ORVMs (Outside Rear-View Mirror) which are electrically foldable are like a cherry on top, not counting the fin.

If we talk about new Tata Harrier’s key features, it comes fitted with Xenon HID projector headlamps, diamond-cut alloys, LED taillamps, leather upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob, panoramic sunroof, electrically foldable ORVMs, aero throttle styled hand brake, chrome finisher, JBL sound system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay with Wifi connectivity, steering mounted controls to name a few.
Tata Harrier Performance
Packed with 6-speed automatic transmission mated with the Kryotec engine to deliver exceptional performance. The Next-Gen Kryotec 170 Turbocharged BS6 diesel engine with 170 HP power and 350 Nm torque. It also has Multi-Drive modes 2.0 with ESP terrain response modes. It also comes with cruise control.
Pedigree of OMEGARC
Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture (OMEGARC) is derived from Land Rover’s D8 platform. For better driving dynamics it has a monocoque construction with optimised torsional bending stiffness. Keeping safety in mind the crumple zones are efficiently designed. Advanced high strength steel and tailored welded blanks are used for high strength and weight reduction. Auxiliary isolation panels are built-in for a quiet and refined experience. The isolated sub-frame has been tested for over 2.2 mn kilometres for noise suppression. Over 1 mn SUVs based on the D8 platform are already sold all over the world.
Convenience and Infotainment
Speaking of the convenience and infotainment functions in the new Harrier, it gets IRA- the connected vehicle program, 8.8’’ (22.35 cm) touchscreen infotainment with 9 JBL speakers, voice recognition with 26 native commands and 17.76 cm colour TFT instrument cluster, 6-way powered driver seat with adjustable Lumbar Support, ventilated seats in the first row, Wipers come with sensors that adjust to varied rain intensity, Reverse parking camera with sensors, passive entry passive start (PEPS) and automatic headlamps.

2023 Tata Harrier has 6 airbags, ESP (Electronic Stability Program) is standard across all variants but this time it comes with 14 additional functions like Anti-Lock Braking System, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Corner Stability Control, Off-Road ABS, Electronic Traction Control, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, Roll Over Mitigation, Brake Disc Wiping, Electronic Brake Pre-Fill, Hydraulic Brake Assist, Hydraulic Fading Compression and Dynamic Wheel Torque by Brake. It also has auto-dimming IRVM (Inside Rear-View Mirror). For better drive and controlled descent, In addition, it also comes with HHC (Hill Hold Control) and HDC (Hill Descent Control). Also Front Fog Lamps with cornering function.

It houses an In-line 4-cylinder, Krytec 2.0 1956cc L Turbocharged Engine (Diesel BS6) with the fuel efficiency of MT 16.35 km/l and AT 14.6 km/l which can generate a max power of 170 HP at 3750 rpm and a max torque of 350 Nm at 1750-2500 rpm. It has a 6-Speed Automatic/6-Speed Manual type transmission.

In terms of body dimensions, 2023 Tata Harrier is 4598mm long, 1894mm wide and 1706mm tall (width without mirrors) with a Wheelbase of 2741mm. It offers a boot space of 425-litres which can be extended to 810-litres by folding rear seats.

The front brakes of new Harrier are Disc and rear brakes are Drum, Front suspension is independent, lower wishbone, McPherson Strut with coil spring and anti-roll bar and the rear suspension is semi-independent twist blade with Panhard rod and coil spring. It has a fuel tank capacity of 50 litres and comes with a 235/70-R16 steel spare(tyre). Harrier can host up to 5 people.

At present 2023 Tata Harrier (Diesel, Manual) price ranges from Rs. 14,69,900 to Rs. 20,19,900, whereas Harrier (Diesel, Automatic) Price is between Rs. 17,39,900 and Rs. 21,49,900. The on-Road price of the Harrier XE (Diesel) Base Model is Rs. 17,24,542 and goes up to Rs. 25.69 lakh.

Claimed mileage is FE - 14.50 kmpl but real-world mileage is around 11.00 kmpl. 1.5 Diesel Automatic has a 1493cc engine with 4-cylinders 6-speed TC producing a max power of 115 HP at 4000 rpm and a max torque of 250 Nm at 1500-2750 rpm.
